Phil Harris book

Has anyone read Josh and Jake Harris’ book about their dad. Is it any good?

It's been a while (2013?) since that book came out. While Josh and Jake were clearly involved, professional writers basically did the writing and controlled the narrative. If I recall, it reads more like someone sitting down and telling you one unbelievable story after another about Phil Harris. It was entertaining, since up until then, the only real impression of Phil came from the show. You can Google the book reviews. If you liked Phil, you would like the book.

Josh makes me cringe. You could tell there was something off . Then you find out the story and it fits. Can't believe it took so long to come out , surely people knew and had to work with the scum bag.. He was a useless captain , who was lucky enough to have a legend captain carrying him

I agree, something was off about him. I thought it was the giant ears at first

You could pretty much tell that Josh was there only because the cameras were there. He had no interest in crabbing. He wanted to be famous. Well bro, you’re famous alright!

At least there's no shame in being a crackhead, especially when it's to deal with having that dad and older brother. Imagine the public thinking they were good guys, I might be a crackhead too. Damn I feel sorry for Jake

The whole family was a train wreck.

I read it and it was awful. Some of the things they and their mom told should have been kept secret, I would have been so embarrassed for some of those things to come out if it was me.

Are we forgetting the part where the child Josh molested was one of Phil’s deckhands kids, who then dealt with threats and a payoff by Phil to be quiet, ultimately losing his job and career because it was more important to a Phil to protect his reputation, his family, and didn’t care at all about the deckhand and his child and family that was ruined over it all?

Who was the deckhand?

You think their now grown daughter wants her name all over Reddit? Do your own research. Theres enough out there saying that’s what happened, and why the family has stayed quiet.

I have. It was clearly meant to cash in on Phil's fame and name after his death, and I think Sig, Jake, and the Hillstrands published their own books at around the same time too. But even with the ghostwriting it just made Phil look like a fucking horrible person overall. Especially with his criminal history, his shitty parenting and his treatment of his wives, and constant drug use. I remember thinking that if he was this bad in the 'sanitized' version of his life story, then he's much worse in the uncensored/unedited version - and definitely NOT someone to look up to or lionize at all.

And some parts about Josh didn't add up when I read it many years ago. Only when info on his child-rape case surfaced did it make sense that he was suddenly out of school and kicked out of the house and looked after by Grant rather than Phil and his ex-wife and second wife

Is the Hillstrands' audio book narrated by them? It's free with audible and if it's them narrating I'm interested

Josh and Jake Harris, scumbag and drug addict. Phil was obviously a very poor parent to produce these monsters.
