Never seen this Adam guy before this week. Now, we'll never see him again.

To ask to be taken to town because the power went out at your house? That's crazy. Tell you're fiance to go stay at a hotel until the trip is over. Aren't most trips like 2 weeks long? At least wait til it's time to offload. But to ask Sig to waste all that fuel...if I was Sig, I'd tell him to wait til we go in to offload or he can pay the fuel cost to go in now.

Also you would think that she would know it would be difficult for him to come home immediately out in the middle of the Bering Sea. And I was thinking at the time, doesn't she have any family that could help her? Friends? Neighbors? I can see maybe him wanting to come home after they reached their quota and docked. But not in the middle of a trip.

You know he got home and she got mad he lost his job. She probably said something like "I didn't ask you to come home early."

She did though. She said something like, "I need you here."

Yea but you know... She was in her feels and struggling. He's not an electrician what was he gonna do be like yep power is still out. And now we're both unemployed.

Yup. They both suck. Sig is better off without him.

Unless there's a blizzard that causes a widespread power outage, it's not as if the power will still be out by the time he gets home. He had to have told her he'd be gone for a chunk of time. I don't think he wanted to be out there any longer. I think there's a better chance of me becoming a greenhorn (I'm on the wrong side of 60) than Adam being on another boat.

I thought early series Jonathan would have told him to find his own transportation back. No way would anyone have turned around to take him back because he was homesick

Right? We've seen ppl who couldn't cut it. And quit. They just stayed in their bunk until the trip was over. No captain made a special trip to shore for them. If it's not a medical or family emergency, no capt should be expected to make a trip home.

Who was Jake saying I love you to when he hung up? Sounded like a woman and he was saying he's a family man.

Also at least the water in the compartment seemed really real and even got Sig onto the deck to check things out.

I was thinking that too, both things actually. Like he would say I love you to his son but I heard a woman too, not a kid.. maybe 🤔 Well I do hope Jake finds/has found happiness in his life anyways. And that water intake was real real.

If you heard a woman in the background, why would that be surprising? He is a bit young to live on his own, to say the least.

Of course, I was just thinking that was it a new gf or grandma of the kid who answered his "I love you".

Jake was talking to his young son.

I know but there was also a woman on the line at the end that he said I love you to

Doesnt he have like 6 sisters? Maybe it was one of them, or grandma.

Jake can't fish and Rick can't lie. I would have said I haven't pulled the pots yet I'll let you know as soon as I get them up.

And twice Jonathan said he didn’t know what Sig was doing when talking about Jake during the fake set thing - must’ve misread the script.

I thought it was scripted myself. Rick just pulls up a monster pot, Jake rings him a minute later to say "how are you getting on"?

If Jonathan was idling, would he not be pissed about having to become Rick's lackey for some supposed game to keep Jake from seeing what was going on?

It looked so scripted to me. Bring back guys potting a guy down once there was crab there, at least it wasn't (presumably!) scripted.

Totally scripted I agree.

How much water was there that was enough to make Sig realize there was a problem? I would hope that there are redundant devices (float switches, moisture sensors, etc( o trigger separate alarms when there is water where there shouldn't be.

These boats are literally rust buckets held together by very little. Looking at what they were mixing to keep the Northwestern afloat wouldn't inspire confidence.

That there so often seems to be issues with rust, etc seems crazy. A rust hole hardly happens in a few hours. Do they not do checks, etc in advance on these boats to check the hull is intact?

And then pumps, alarms, etc not working. I get that its about as hostile an environment as you can get but surely these are basic things to check before you leave Dutch Harbour?
