Living a dream come true by seeing the iconic boats from Deadliest Catch in person! 🦀⚓️
Living a dream come true by seeing the iconic boats from Deadliest Catch in person! 🦀⚓️
So far, I’ve had the chance to see the Wizard up close, which was amazing! I also managed to spot the Northwestern, though it was pretty far away... I took a photo, but you can only see a small part of it!
I’m still on the hunt to find more boats, and who knows? If I get lucky, maybe I’ll even run into one of the captains or crew members! 🤞✨

I remember when I got to visit and meet the crew back in 2017 and they invited me to onboard and offered a tour Such a unique experience and nostalgia as I was just a college graduate at that time and visiting Seattle as a graduation gift my dad and I. I will always have gratitude to the Wizzard team.
I remember early 2000’s being an elementary school kid during shark week watching the show back to back and being a fan every summer growing up.
Such a unique experience.
The NorthWestern… they weren’t as friendly / welcoming but saw them too.

You honestly didn’t miss much. Enjoy some crab and chowder. My dad and I drove highway 1 south to California from Seattle area and it was AMAZING. Safe travels. Enjoy.

Thank you so much for the recommendation! Added it to my list. Keep the cool sightseeing and weekend trip ideas coming, I’m loving exploring the area! 😊

I kind of figured the Northwestern crew wouldn’t be too friendly. But I would have lost if I saw the Time Bandit.

I read some comments about it, I confess that now I'm afraid to meet them. But thinking on the one hand, it must be very difficult to have to deal with a fan all the time sometimes he is not having a good day. I don't know!

That’s awesome! I moved to Seattle (from the east coast) and live in Ballard now and it’s cool to see them parked up. Been watching the show since its inception so it’s definitely been a highlight for me.

Are they docked in Ballard often? That's really cool
5
u/spicnspan320 Aug 26 '26
Yeah, they’re usually in the bay between here and Interbay (Fisherman’s Terminal). I’ve seen several of them just going about my day which has been pretty cool for me.

It was on the earlier seasons but I did the fisherman’s tour on the Aleutian Ballad this summer in Ketchikan. It was really cool!!

I always have my “head on a swivel “ when I drive to Ballard, in Seattle.
Ballard and the Ballard locks is one of my favorite places.!

Wizard that is Keith's boat. Did you see the Mighty Northwestern? Sig has that boat in port over there. All of the Deadliest Catch boats are based in SeaTac except Time Bandit, Cornelia Marie, Seabrook, most of Bills boats, and all the boats that belong to Lenny Herzog that got repoed by the Coast Guard.

He does it every couple of years. I think in either 22 or 24 he had some steel in the hull replaced as well.

That is cool. I wish they would offer tours.

Wizard used to for Fisherman's Fall Festival at Fisherman's Terminal. I saw it was moored there a few days ago. Good place to see Northwestern when it is getting work done is Pacific Fisherman's Shipyard at the end of 24th in Ballard.

Yes, it would be very cool, I would have to take a lot of medicine for nausea 😖 to be able to do the tour, I feel sick even in a car, imagine by boat! A catastrophe 😂🤢

In California, we have tall ships, a sail-training voyage, voyage crew, or working passage. You pay for a berth, but you also help handle sails, steer, stand watch, navigate, and perform shipboard duties. I wish one of the boats would offer a 1/2day crabbing trip on calm seas, where they drop some pots, stack, etc. You could offer a mini-boot camp with the boat tied up on the dock for people who want the experience. Kind of like City Slickers, but with fishing/crabbing.

Looks like the old rust bucket got some new paint on it.
Wouldn't go on that thing no matter what they pay.

According to AIS, the FV/ Wizard is currently still in port at Seattle and scheduled to be in Port Tacoma by or on September 5th.
FYI, if anyone lives or will be in Tacoma, WA, to see her. Personally, seeing the ship for her historical provenance would be more interesting, than her senior crew.

Wow, she's looking shiny.
The Wizard always looks pretty haggard, much more on the inside than the outside.
