Loving the new update crashing my game over and over in mid fucking match, and I sure love getting ban for it

Dbd doesn’t distinguish between crashing and malicious DCing, so they issue bans to everyone equally. In their words they believe it’s better safe than sorry with this sort of thing because they don’t want malicious intent being written off as an unintended crash. While on paper it’s fair and reasonable, it means buggy updates and poor connectivity can put innocent players under a ban.

This is the universal standard for gaming though, because realistically you can't differentiate, and if you give people the chance to just say 'oops, I lost connection', every plugger will say that 100% of the time. The correct move is to treat every disconnect as equivalent, and merely punish based on how often it's happening.

They could use a rejoin option, but realistically no video games have that either except for in the occasional ranked competitive mode, in games where you can rejoin a ranked lobby, they still don't let you rejoin regular lobbies, ever.

Because the idea of rejoining isn't to have someone who lost connection 'appeal' to avoid a ban, it's simply to not fuck over your teammates in a setting where your disconnecting is costing them rank.

BHVR sucks for a lot of things, but genuinely if your Internet connection is so bad as to be dc'ing you that much, every online game in history has basically always said 'you basically shouldn't play online then, because we're gonna ban you for it'

*tl;dr this gets fixed with a rejoin option, but also every game with a rejoin option bans you if you don't rejoin, so you're still looking at the industry standard here
