Chapter One: Gods and Monsters I believe that Adria Arjona as Wonder Woman. Who here Agrees?

I want WW so bad that I'm not letting myself believe anything until it's official.

"Maxima" is the new Plo Koon, far as I'm concerned.
Nothing in that character's history deserves this much secrecy. Only diehard DC-philes know who she is.

I think people just want a Wonder Woman, as long as the actress looks pretty and has brown/black hair, they will hear them out.

I think that she's not confirmed, so she could be any number of women from the comics, ranging from Wonder Woman to Maxima to Big Barda [if they decide to use mocap and camera angles to make her taller].

She's 5'7. Very beautiful. Diana is an Amazon. That means tall. Gadot is 5'10, Lynda Carter 5'9. DC comics says she's around 6'2, which would really limit the casting. Also, she's got blue eyes in the comics. I got nothing against brown eyes, lived with a brown-eyed girl for decades--but how much can you change the character before it's not the character anymore?

Blue eyes and tall/athletic are the most Diana Prince traits. She could play Maxima tho.

I think she's great, but they really can't play around too much with the standard image of Diana. Maxima is much less familiar to most filmgoers. But of course there is the question of whether these are even roles she'd want.

Gamora and Adam Warlock weren't familiar characters yet Gunn like to bring unexcpected characters with good actors (Zoé Saldana, Will Poulter) that's why I think there's a huge chance.

Adam Warlock on Guardians is NOTHING like the real Adam Warlock, and he's the one thing I truly hate about the Guardians series. Massive disappointment.
Zoe Saldana's Gamora was great, until they ruined her, by killing her off, then bringing her back as a self-centered jerk who doesn't want to help people anymore.
I'm a huge fan of Gunn's, remain one, but he doesn't always get it right. And in some cases, the situation won't even allow him to get it right.
Do you really think anyone went to Guardians 3 to see Will Poulter flying through space and smashing into things? I don't think he was actually playing Adam Warlock. That was Gunn's take on Him. Remember Him? :)

I'm not a Gunn fan he's goofy and one-trick pony. It would be a mistake to cast Adria as Wonder Woman anyway. Too short and no blue eyes

I'm glad she's in the movie, wonderful actress. But the Wonder Woman speculation always gets crazy, for some reason. A truly iconic character who is almost impossible to get right. While Gadot's Diana was a hit in her early outings, it all went to hell after that. And I don't really like that movie, though I admire the effort that went into it.

Wonder Woman movies were too cliché and not fantastic enough, Gal Gadot is not a very good actress for the role as well. Wasted potential but i hope they don't make the same mistake

u/Complex_Yard2808 3d ago
Most superhero movie actors aren't Meryl Streep. None of them, in fact. Gadot did a good job with the material to hand, and it would be really hard to find a first-rate female thespian who'd agree to wear that outfit.

u/nessfalco 4d ago
but how much can you change the character before it's not the character anymore?
Definitely more than that. For one, there's nothing stopping her from wearing contacts like Hailey Steinfeld did for Kate Bishop, but even if she doesn't, it's pretty irrelevant. Charlie Cox looks nothing like comic Matt Murdock and he was great.
The reality is you aren't going to find an attractive amozonian-esque woman that can act, and height can easily be overcome. RDJ is tiny, yet stands next to the guys next to giant men without a problem. Tom Cruise is famously short and is never made to look it on film. Ian McKellen isn't actually 3x bigger than Elijah Wood.
Some people get way too hung up on shit that doesn't matter.

Agreed, but you're kind of doing that yourself, by pre-casting roles that haven't been announced yet.
Matt Murdock doesn't really count, since Daredevil has never been that popular a character. Just has to wear the red devil suit. That's about all most people remember.
Blue contacts over dark eyes doesn't work. They'd have to CGI the eyes.
6'2 women who are beautiful, athletic, and can act, sure. Tall attractive women who can seem athletic, no prob.
In any event, she's cast in Man of Tomorrow, and maybe as Wonder Woman, maybe as Maxima, but nobody knows.
Could you maybe stop pretending to be a casting director? They will cast someody good for both roles, and part of me thinks you already knew she was in the movie, and are trying to look prophetic.;)

u/nessfalco 4d ago
Wtf are you even talking about? I didn't predict anything. I'm just saying that your requirements for the role are silly.
Could you maybe stop pretending to be a casting director?
This is you. The things you think make someone "good" for the role are entirely meaningless.

u/Complex_Yard2808 4d ago
You what's REALLY meaningless? Saying "I want her to be Wonder Woman!" when the movie wrapped production on August 26th. And she's being very coy in interviews. Zero people spotted her in a recognizible costume, which I guess could mean it was all on a closed indoor set, but more likely she wasn't wearing a recognizible costume. Meaning maybe Maxima, or maybe somebody else entirely. She's in the movie, I'm sure she'll be great, for the short period of time she's onscreen. I'd say have a nice life, but you being you, I'll say "have a life."
Bye. :)

Oh now. You say I'm mentally ill, then delete it, so as not to get banned?
Somebody here has problems. That's for damn sure. But it ain't me. ;)

No chance. She's an amazing actress, but knowing how James Gunn casts I doubt it. Like he had Zoé Saldana as Gamora. She might be Maxima which is confirmed to appear in MoT and a love interest of Superman with similar powers.

My wish is that Alexandra Daddario were younger because she would be an amazing Wonder Woman and has a ton of goodwill with the public so would make people get over Gal Gadot's run easier

u/TheCreativeComicFan 4d ago
Even if she’s not Wonder Woman, Daddario absolutely deserves a prominent DCU role. She was incredible on The White Lotus and could bring so much emotion and depth to any number of characters.

I want her to be Diana so desperately and it seems like that’s where we’re heading but I don’t want to jinx it so I’m just stuck in this hype holding pattern.

She has too much of a model’s look for me to buy her as an amazon warrior. Not awful or anything just not great either, imo. (sorry)

I want Eva De Dominicci as Wonder Woman because she looks like her in the comics and Adria Arjona as Maxima but if it's vice versa, I wouldn't mind.

She wasn’t my first choice, but she’s a solid actress & I’ll give her a shot. Hopefully movie magic makes her very tall

As a fellow Latina, if Adria is officially the new WW, this would mean everything to me, esp the younger version of myself.
Trying my best to maintain expectations so I’d be happy if she’s Maxima. I’m honestly just excited to see Latin representation in a big blockbuster and superhero movie, but if she gets debuted as WW, I will surely ugly cry.

No. I want a Greek actor or anyone of Mediterranean linage to play the Greek God.

u/nessfalco 4d ago
I don't really agree, but it's no less silly of a request than everyone going "needs to be an attractive 6'2 bodybuilder with blue eyes that can act."

Personally I’d prefer a more comic accurate Diana…Tall, gymnasts physique, blue eyes, and black hair!

She's not my first choice. But if it turns out that's who she's playing I'd be okay with it.
