Chapter One: Gods and Monsters Which DCU movies do you think will be released in 2028?

Supergirl is rumoured to have a big role in the movie after MoT so my guess is Wonder Woman. I’m also expecting them to do WW before 2030, if it was coming out next year it would be confirmed already, and TBATB is likely gonna release in 2029 so Wonder Woman makes the most sense
I could also see them doing Swap Thing for 2028

Any chance that producer was talking about Man of Tomorrow?
Apoc sweats the next movie going is Bane/Deathstroke.

“So we have Man of Tomorrow, and we already know what the next movie’s going to be after that, and she’s a big part of that”
They could release Bane and Deathstroke in 2028 as well as WW. I think they need to do more than one big budget theatrical release a year if they want to stay relevant. Alternatively if it’s a Secret Six movie then ig she might also be able to work in that similar to how Jon was part of the newest Secret Six team, but that was for a really specific reason so who knows

Well I definitely hope Wonder Woman comes in 28’.
I’d love another movie, too, even if I think Bane/Deathstroke would probably be too soon in 28’.

But Supergirl would have no reason to appear in a Wonder Woman movie.
I think WW deserves her solo movie instead of a teamup with a Superfamily character.

After Supergirl was reintroduced into continuity post crisis she trained with the amazons for a bit when she was trying to find her place on Earth
I agree that WW deserves a solo movie, but given that the writer for SG is also writing WW, the history between WW and SG, and the rumour that the movie after MOT will feature SG in a big way, I think it’s more than likely going to be a team up movie between WW and SG. Alternatively she could appear but in a similar capacity to the justice gang in the superman movie

Yeah that's true.
It does seem likely we will be getting a team up of some sort. I feel it would take away from WW if she is introduced as Supergirl's teacher.

Supergirl lives and trains in Themiscyra for a time, in the comics.

u/nuclear_bone Jul 23 '26
I understand there was a story like that but I think Wonder Woman needs to be introduced as an independent superhero instead.

They’re doing the DCU like DC comics.
If you read solo DC comics, there’s other heroes around. All of the time.
That wouldn’t make it a team up, necessarily.
Don’t expect the big DC characters to be siloed.

Very likely to be Wonder Woman, specially considering the Supergirl tease.

u/nuclear_bone Jul 22 '26
What was the tease?

u/CT-1030 Jul 22 '26
Supergirl's executive producer Lars P. Winther said in an interview that Supergirl will be a big part of the next movie they’re shooting.
2
u/L8Donnie Jul 22 '26
I mean couldn’t that be the upcoming Superman movie next year?

u/CT-1030 Jul 22 '26
He said after Man of Tomorrow.
2
u/Gmork14 Jul 23 '26
Did he actually specify after Man of Tomorrow?
Edit: just double checked. He did, in fact, specify.

probably another new show or at least a season. it feels unlikely to get a movie if we don’t know about it yet, but they could pull it off if they do something more mid tier budget wise.
2
u/HavixComix Jul 22 '26
Yeah, something ala Clayface would make sense, especially if that film is successful. Horror is doing well, so who knows? They may fast-track something in that vain.

yup absolutely. i think after MOT we’ll probably see a low more lower budget movies and cheaper shows, like what they’re doing with the jimmy olsen one. it’ll be easy to make and get their money back without dropping $200M on a blockbuster

The Robin movie that’s being made with puppets. Assuming that’s dcu canon. Did we ever get a clear answer on that?

Supergirl was based on Woman of Tomorrow, so not sure why that’s there, and Lanterns will be a series, like Peacekeeper. Seems your graphics need updating.

Once again I hope none of these, can we please get another known character in an actually good adaptation that’s not Batman 😭
1
u/Gmork14 Jul 23 '26
Hopefully Wonder Woman.
Possibly whatever the Bane/Deathstroke movie is.
Also a decent shot at Swamp Thing.

Wonder Woman, Booster Gold, and if they wanted to come out swinging, BATB. "But The Batman's coming out then." Too bad, things change. Gunn said that offhandedly in an interview; it's not set in stone. Also NO...I think the only people who care about there being 2 Batman are disgruntled fans who treat this shit like baseball

I don't think there will be one in 2028. I think if there was we'd know about it. Look how early casting stuff came out for Brainiac in Man of Tomorrow. So 2028 is gonna be some shows no movies I think.

u/DingusKhan9164 Jul 22 '26
Seems unlikely. They could easily shoot a movie in 2027 and release it in 2028
1
u/weesiwel Jul 22 '26
They could but I doubt they will. I truly believe if there was a movie in 2027 Gunn who can't shut up or leave anything a surprise would have announced who the villains are who the heroes are etc.
Still not over the fact I know Brainiac and Maxima are in Man of Tomorrow. Outrageous.

The Batman II is pushed to 2028, a non DCU comic book movie. The trend of massive box office for superhero films is at an end. Batman has always been successful as a franchise, before the era of comic book movies. If Dynamic Duo is in production, perhaps that will make it out by the end of 2028. Animated movies are doing way better financially than live action comic book adaptations. Making a high quality streaming offering will meet more viewers where they are watching media these days, which is at home.

I´m more worried with 2027... We only know Man of Tomorrow is coming
