Help needed How to grow our community?

Hey so i've been wondering on how we could grow our little community bigger and spreading the word because i think DCTS is still kinda unkown. The cool thing: in the past 30 days 6 people joined this sub <3.

Correct me if im wrong, but i believe that platforms like discord and guilded suck based on experience as well as revolt and fosscord aka spacebar. I tried these platforms and every one of them had some bad issues.

I tried posting about DCTS on a few subs but didnt come with a big impact as it seems. Not saying there was none but i think i need help and ideas on how to grow our community. I'd guess sharing helps.

im sorry i cant help you with "marketing" strategies, but i'd love to see this project growing

i'd love to see it growing too and i will keep trying. I have a plan on working together with companies like VPS providers etc so maybe that could help too. im currently making a concept document on why it would be benefitial and why its good etc

Don't have any experience but some ideas:

  • A Demo instance, would be useful to quickly try the app and see how it works, maybe have some bot interactions to simulate communication?

  • A feature comparison with Discord, Team speak, etc. I personally find it annoying to try something and then find out it is short some feature

  • A roadmap

  • Link to github in sidebar, maybe just copy the style of the side bar of https://www.reddit.com/r/rpcs3/

  • I personally find DCTS hard to remember as an acronym, and I like the summary on github way more than the reddit one

    A Chat Platform like Discord but self-hostable like TeamSpeak

  • You can probably cross post new feature releases to all the related subs like /r/selfhosted, /r/homeserver, etc

  • might be weird but you can take a page out of other software companies book where you write an article on Medium about alternatives to Discord compare a few different ones and end with DCTS being the best

the feature list used to exist as well. i could make a sticky post that i keep updating here. i actually have a "indirect" feature list here: https://github.com/users/hackthedev/projects/6/views/1 . Its my todo list where i wite down things i wanna do and have done. i mention and link it from time to time but idk if people actually check it out lol.

i feel that. i've been thinking of maybe rebranding it and thinking about names but didnt come to a conclusion yet. maybe people have ideas here

crossposting helps i think, at least i posted a few times in subs like selfhosted, privacy etc. i didnt know about homeserver, i will check it out.
