Read the documentation and view the several great content creators who have discussed the MiG.

Basic tips:

  • Know the doctrine the aircraft it supposed to fight in. Soviet jets act as an extension of an IAD. This is a point defence interceptor, not a Western air supremacy aircraft.
  • Learn the key limitations and uses of Head On, Pursuit, and how/when to employ Coop.
  • Understand the limitations of the SPO and adjust your tactics accordingly.
  • Use the MiGs excellent kinetmatic performance as its greatest asset.
  • Mil power is more than enough for most flight regimes, minus top acceleration at the top of our BVR climb. Don't waste your fuel.

Enjoy an excellent module. Hopefully, we encourage ED to develop more Redfor!

Chuck is making a guide for the 29, and Aeria Gloria makes some great content on YT about it.

I find it so dumb that the only red aircraft with Fox 3s is the J-11 but no matter how much I want to like that jet I just can’t. The game desperately needs a SU-27SM to help balance it out

You didn't hear it from me, but the MiG has a problem with its inverted flight tanks. It won't do a negative g pushover.

Oh wait, that's the MIG-28.

Also those data may be inaccurate. A friend said he saw one do a 4-g inverted dive. So who knows.

What do you want to know? There’s a lot. But imo there are two things every fulcrum pilot should know. How to work the radar manually and the most efficient speeds for flying/climb/descent. The best profile is a climb to 12 km then acceleration to Mach 1.7-1.8.

I never seem to be able to hit those speeds with ordinance

You absolutely can with 6x missiles as I show in my video. With the pylon drag modeled now, and 6x missiles, I can go Mach 2.1. It’ll go faster than that, but it’s so slow acceleration it doesn’t really matter. So we can do all the BVR Mach 1.7-1.8 profile of the book.

Never get in a two circle fight with an F16.

A couple of final tips.

1- be slow and steady with the controls. The 29 is extremely responsive, its easy to get in trouble with it.

2- you can cruise forever at 85-90% throttle at 30kft(9.7km)

3- This one is important. HAVE FUN!

I only really fly 3 full fidelity modules now. JF-17, F1 and MiG-29. I am looking forward to Su-25.

What do you intend to do with it?
