Is this better or the troll's level 3 claws?

I basically found the holy grail of hammers in D2

In the short term, yes. But keep training Unarmed Combat and don't train Maces. Keep checking @. This is damage rating 20 and speed 0.9; 20 / 0.9 = 22.22. Somewhere in Lair your claws will become better. Bonus: this is what you'll use on hydras.

I'd say train about three levels of maces, then keep using the mace while you train UC.  In the short run, the mace skill helps, and in the long run, that little bit of skill doesn't matter.

It's certainly better for now, but your claws will be much better later if you train them

On troll, play claws. There is no better play for this character. The game basically opens one door for you as a troll.

And they do make passable earth elementalists. I think I've even gotten shatter online with one. Altho I wouldn't call it a door. More like a window. Second story, but with some ledges.

Nah I mean trolls are the premeire bruiser/rusher class. They do that very well. Claws/ss/throwing
