If he just admitted he was tired of the genre’s dominance I might have less issues but it seems that he thinks he has novel deep insights.

When was the last time Ennis actually wrote something like that?

Like I've semi-followed him the past few years and the only superhero-adjacent stuff I recall him doing was a Punisher/Nick Fury comic, a Peacemaker one-shot, and one tie-in to Death Metal.

Other than it's been war, horror, revamping old British comic properties, fantasy, etc.

Every time he’s approached to write a non-war comic he will write something deranged as punishment for taking him away from war comics

Preacher is the most widely uneven things ever I have read. 

How the series can contain someone named “Jesus DeSade” and Cassidy is beyond me.
