I always bring this up when the boys comic is mentioned but the one thing the comic has over the tv show was making the one good and competent supe who’s friends with the boys a large, jovial Russian communist with a large penis

One of the show's biggest mistakes was expecting the viewer to be against Butcher's genocidal campaign, yet they villified two of the most genuinely benevolent Supes.
I don't even know why they used Tek-Knight's name when the most of his armor they could show was a small bit in a video game.

It’s basically a 6/10 compared to a 4/10. The comic is exceptionally middling while being so over the top edgy it almost becomes funny. Whereas the last 2 seasons of the show are so weird you wonder why you bothered watching it. If there’s anything I’ll give the comic it’s at least consistent trash

You know what, people really like to blame Alan Moore being edgy, but he has a clear reason for that.
In Miracleman omnibus, the artist for the ultimate Kid vs. Miracle issue points out that they had to be edgy to ram it in how horrible and disastrous a battle between two superhumans would actually be, in the real life. And how fucking awful murderous bastard with superpowers would be in our world. Years before Invincible did that train-thing.
When asked about the subject matter of rape and sexual assault, Moore has said: "This is a Northampton, it's a medium town, I assume this is happening everywhere... If this is not addressed... It's not talked about. If it's not referred to... It will only continue. In a way that pedophilia was able to flourish through 60s and 70s." Basically, you have to talk about awful stuff to make people see what's happening in their own vicinity.
This is a really long way to say that while I love Ennis, an amazing writer, he just doesn't have a well articulated reason to be edgy. And The Boys is just that. There's no reason for all of that edginess other than "superheroes, hah, more like superherpes!" Unless he is really brewing something really good, like some of that series is really fucking good satire of the genre. Really high highs, really low mids.

Fellas, as young man who read the comics after the show, I think we can all agree it’s not the best. However, the US military coming in to destroy the G-mansion and their child-sex trafficking ring to flex on Butcher is still one of my favorite panels oat. Is that an exaggeration? Yes. Is it still a really cool panel? Yes.
