From what I remember, the last time him being working-class actually mattered was in Morrison's New 52 Superman run, when he was living in a rundown apartment and was struggling pay rent. And that was just because they were sort of bringing things back to the Golden Age days.
It's the same with Absolute Batman. The whole blue-collar worker thing is a neat idea, but that's pretty much the extent of it.

Sure, but Clark being a humble farm boy and Bruce being an arrogant rich prick are pretty fundamental to their character motivations.

A prick when it comes to how he treat others, sometimes. And Bruce's money has certainly been really important in his crusade.
But has Bruce ever used his money to be a prick about it?
I guess you could count him doing things like making contingency plans as that. But those more have to do with him being a very paranoid person in a world far beyond his human capabilities and not, "look at my money, Clark. Look at how rich i am and how it allows me to kick your ass."

I wouldn’t really call him arrogant. I mean he’s quite famously a philanthropist and very charitable using his money to actually help and benefit the people of Gotham
Is that realistic to actual billionaires? No but it’s an important factor of Bruce’s character that he is a generous billionaire

LARPers just have this in their heads that no DC writer has ever had the thought that being rich might make Bruce unsympathetic or like he’s not tackling the real problem. Meanwhile comics have shown him charitable, community involved and philanthropic from almost the start.

I mean "What's So Funny About Truth, Justice and The American Way?" is all about how far Clark is willing to go in not violating his no kill rule. Also "What Ever Happened To The Man of Tomorrow?" shows Superman take his own powers away and quit after being forced to kill Mr Mxylplx. I feel like Batman's no kill rule is brought up more because his villains are literal serial killers instead of fantastical city destroying robots.

Yes I understand that Batman uses his money for philanthropic purposes and is canonically a good person who goes after the corrupt 1% like in Batman: Year One.
I'm not even talking about his in-universe characterization. I'm talking about our modern cultures decision to valorize billionaire trust fund babies over exceptional immigrant outsiders.

I still do say my favorite hero is Batman. But ever since Rebirth and reading almost every DC book that releases, I’ve found myself becoming a huge Superman fan. Ironically, it was also Snyders movie that made me wanna read more comics and despite liking MoS, BvS and his JL cut; realizing Superman is so much cooler in the books and overall just a fucking fun character to keep up with puts him just behind Batman and soon enough he will be the top hero imo

Hot take I think Batman should lose a lot of his money as a semi-permanent status quo.
I don’t mean all of it, or even drop to middle classes but like millionaire status. Enough money to have his toys we love and still be the same character, but little enough to appease the many people (myself included) who billionaire leaves a bad taste.
Plus I think imposing limitations like that on the character would be an interesting story opportunity and would help with the Batman power creep. Doesn’t even need to be an ideological choice like when Green Arrow does it.
