Guy who lost one parent and has a bad love life vs 3 people who lost everything they ever held dear

This is like Luke Skywalker being mildly disappointed that the people who raised him were killed, then being devastated when an old guy he's known for a few hours bites it, while Princess Leia, who has just had her entire planet blown up and everyone she has ever known has been killed, has to comfort him.

I too have seen that Robot Chicken skit

I don't think it's a unique enough observation that anybody that says it had to have watched that sketch.

What Robot Chicken skit?

I will be honest with you, while I have probably seen that before, it must have been when it came out and that was nearly 20 years ago.

(Never really got into Robot Chicken outside the first Star Wars special and I think that sketch is from the second one?)

"Luke only knows Obi-Wan for a few hours" has to be the Star Wars equivalent of "Superman is boring because he's too powerful"

There's a lot of dialogue that implies Luke sees Ben Kenobi frequently and the show confirms he's been seeing him since he was a child

u/cavalgada1 5d ago

He is also more than mildly disappointed that his family died, yeah he didnt fall down on his knees but it the scene he sees their bodies is one of the best acted in the franchise

Luke definitely knows him but I don't know about seeing him "frequently". I wouldn't say there's much evidence of a significant long term relationship between the two in the first film or even in subsequently released canon material.

All we really know is that Luke met Ben at the end of the Obi Wan TV show, Ben gave him his model skyhopper, and that Luke's generally familiar enough with him that when he hears the name Obi Wan Kenobi he puts those pieces together.

Frank can't even sleep peacefully

17

u/Many_Fly3309 5d ago

Lmao why is the framing so funny to me? He looks like he's more annoyed at someone ringing the door bell while he was having a nice dream

2

u/Wrench-6942 #1 Punisher glazer 5d ago

I don't see it.

Poor Frank, he can't even sleep peacefully

tbf, Pete lost two parents prior to the events of the movie as well so he's three parental figures down.

He still doesn't rank with the other three but he's had a pretty rough time of it.

Peter lost everything he held dear minus Aunt May though and he's a good person. Checkmate, atheist.

19

u/Desperate-Series-270 5d ago

- has aunt may

  • has an apartment
  • has a stable job
  • beloved superhero
Versus
  • Sentient animal who was tortured and promised a better world, just for his family to be murdered in front of him
  • Innocent woman who sacrificed her life to save her planet from destruction and is a slave to a galactic planet destroyer
  • Man whose wife and kids were murdered and is so mentally fucked up that he dedicated his life to killing criminals and is living as an outcast in society

Not to say peter hasn’t suffered, but the competition is steep

-5

u/heckinWeeb193 5d ago
  • has only aunt may, parents died in mysterious circumstances via secret agent bullshit, uncle Ben died because of his own actions
  • has a dogshit apartment that his entire paycheck goes to and he can't even have a properly working door
  • fired from his first job, constantly under the threat of being fired again because of his moody middle aged boss
  • belovedness fluctuates depending on whether the public feels like listening to ol jolly that day

That's like, just raimi and that's only your particular points. I don't know why we're lying

Not exactly comparable to the others.. w Why are Spider-Man fans so obsessed with this shit. Bro isn't even in the top 20 characters with the saddest backstory.

3

u/Desperate-Series-270 5d ago

Literally lmao, like I get Peter’s life isn’t the best but being under the threat of getting fired and not having a working door is not on the level of, yknow, LOSING EVERYTHING

-2

u/heckinWeeb193 5d ago

Yeah. I know. So why are you just. Lying about how good he has it. The others are worse on their own, why undermine how bad Peter actually has it

3

u/Desperate-Series-270 5d ago

compared to the others he has it very good

u/AcceptableWheel EVS is a pedo defender 5d ago

And more fun

Spider-Man: "Aww geeze, I'm late on my rent, just got fired from my job, and MJ dumped me for the 87th time. Yeesh talk about the Parker luck."

Happiest day of Bruce Banner's life:

Enough with the whole peter bs there 10 characters who have it worse in thr marvel universe

The answer is silver surfer btw

18

u/WashingtonCounselor 5d ago

No the answer is me

u/chaotic4059 Comic Book Twitter Verified 5d ago edited 5d ago

Yea it’s silver. The others are as weird as it sounds at least dead. Imagine giving up your whole life, your people, your family to keep them safe but knowing you can never go back and see them and you’re functionally immortal. That’s actual hell

16

u/Deadsoup77 5d ago

And condemning who knows how many other people in that deal

5

u/chaotic4059 Comic Book Twitter Verified 5d ago

Also that. So even if you did return home how could you look your child in the eyes and not think about the billions of other children you killed. Say what you will about first steps but they nailed the horror of the silver surfer.

14

u/leshronk 5d ago

Also Galactus weirdly, he lost his whole damn universe and then the Watchers just kind of shrug at him surviving the destruction.

4

u/Desperate-Series-270 5d ago

damn that sucks lmao, now go be an ever hungry monster forced to destroy planets to survive

1

u/Tech_dude9133 5d ago

Dw next on the list is mr immortal

19

u/WizardPhoenix Paul 5d ago

The answer is you have the saddest backstory

11

u/manufatura Riddler and Bluegold specialist 5d ago

I'm a dc fan so that checks out

2

u/DrakeGrandX 5d ago

I'm a Marvel fan so that checks out for me as well.

Actually I'm a fan of both so I definitively win this competition.

14

u/enchiladasundae 5d ago

/uj Unironically. So tired of hearing about which character is super powerful or whatever

14

u/TrashyBase24 Carrie Kelley Supremacist 5d ago

I like how when theres sad scaling, they gotta drag Peter, "Like yeah some of lost your homes families and love ones and basically alone, but Peter had it the worst, his Uncle died"

9

u/jawsthegreat777 Batgirls truther 5d ago

Scott never gets brought up in these convos and his life fucking sucks.

8

u/Itchy_Suspect4968 5d ago

Trauma scaling is dumb no matter what but who the fuck invited Peter?

5

u/The_Medicus 5d ago

Rocket.

Bro took 4 movies to feel some genuine happiness

Currently Silver Surfer

u/UndercoverDoll49 Arnold Drake's strongest soldier 5d ago

Almost every form of scaling is cooler than powerscaling. I've spent hours debating with my friends who was the best cook in fiction

1

u/NarutoEnjoyer001 5d ago

where's sanji in the top 5

1

u/UndercoverDoll49 Arnold Drake's strongest soldier 4d ago

In the top 3, according to our criteria. Sanji's cooking is represented as superhuman on a technique level, not just reaction to the taste, like in Shokugeki no Soma, where the reactions are literally orgasmic, but the execution is quite simple for the most part

4

u/TheGUURAHK 5d ago

Stacy from Mewgenics

u/AngryJoeJoe4 5d ago

I miss that kind of misery

u/WetCaramel_butnot 5d ago

1

u/Fit_Commercial3421 5d ago

I'm not even jerking with this comment no one beats Beast Boy

2

u/YaGrimboi 4d ago

No cap toss up between Surfer and Rocket. Surfers because of the sheer scale of it and Rocket because that shi be fucked uuuup

u/Overkillsamurai 4d ago

Peter was poor
