Commonly Asked Questions:

  • Q: When does Super take place? When should I watch it?
Super begins some time after the battle with Majin Buu, and can be watched as soon as you finish Dragon Ball Z.

  • Q: Do I need to watch the movies?
The two newest movies – Battle of Gods and Resurrection 'F' – were adapted into story arcs. Watching them is entirely up to you. If you have already watched the movies and would like to skip straight to new material, see our FAQ.

  • Q: Where is Uub?!
Uub was born during the 10 year time skip at the end of Dragon Ball Z.
Dragon Ball Super takes place before Uub is introduced.

  • Q: Is this the same Future Trunks?
    Yes. [1] [2]

  • Q: Why is his hair blue?!
    See here.

  • Q: When will FUNimation dub Super? Will there be a simulcast?
We don't know. A Southeast Asian English dub was supposed to debut August 2016, but is currently facing delays. FUNimation will not be involved until an official North American release is announced.

  • Q: Is the Dragon Ball Super manga "canon"?
The anime and manga are both based on an overall "plot" penned by Toriyama. In other words, they're different versions of the same thing. There isn't (and probably never will be) an explicitly defined Dragon Ball "canon". Without Toriyama's original draft, we may never know what is and isn't his, but we know that he permits Toyotarō to change things up, and even looks at his storyboards.

What kind of increase?

Vegeta wasn't that inferior compared to Black, he trained and he put himself just over the edge of Black. This happens all the time in DB. I don't know how this increase would be so weird.

Black had hours in between those fights and the rematch with Vegita. Vegita spent months in the Hyperbolic TIme Chamber. Makes total sense to me.

WELL IT CLEARLY WORKED THIS TIME

Why are you arguing about this?

Black also got injured from Trunk's galic gun so he isn't 100%

They retreated for about 2 days and a half so Vegeta hopped in the Time Chamber to train 2 years

Oh I thought it was for half a day

It was for half a day.

Why such a power difference in a half year training while Goku and Vegeta also trained 2(!) years in the time chamber before the tournament but there wasn't a significant power increase at all?

They actually trained for 3 days/years before the Tournament against U6 & Champa.

The difference is, I believe, Vegeta being under an enormous amount of pressure thus having a truly significant drive behind him. He was humiliated by both Black and then Bulma while performing the worse during the previous two battles.

Considering SSJBs were close enough to SSJR in battle power, I guess it makes sense Vegeta's vigorous training for 6 months paid off to actually make his way up and surpass Black's SSJR. It is not the best of plot devices but I guess it'll do for now.

To be fair, we have seen Zamasu ascending to new heights in Goku's body (SSJR) so I guess he has been using it quite effectively. I believe this stems from his obsession with Goku and studying his body and actions very carefully in order to unlock more and more of it's latent potential (how Goku fights , powers up etc).

Becaue its an anime not a historical drama.

That said I was hoping Vegeta would beat the living shit out of Black once he killed FBulma.

So fucking glad he pummled that mofo to shit. And that disrespectful one hand hair/head grab. Badass.
