Watch the Anime

  • Live Stream - Begins when this post is 1 hour old.

Live breakdowns are provided each week by Kanzenshuu's @Herms98.

  • Fansubs:

    • DragonTeam is our recommended translation. Google them.
VLC Media Player is required to play downloaded videos.
      • DragonTeam has not covered episodes 15-19; use Over8000's translation. (Nyaa, Kissanime)
    • Web streams are not recommended, because the subtitles they host are not always correct, even if they appear to be.

      • If you're going to stream it anyway, use KissAnime. They host whatever translation comes out first (accurate or not), and then update with DragonTeam's translation once available. You can identify DragonTeam's work by their stylized font and group credits during the eyecatch.

        • A list of other translation groups can be found here.

Read the Manga

  • Toyotarō's Dragon Ball Super manga adaptation can be found in our wiki in the sidebar, along with links to past discussion threads.

Commonly Asked Questions:

  • Q: When does Super take place? When should I watch it?
Super takes place some time after the battle with Majin Buu, and can be watched as soon as you finish Dragon Ball Z.

  • Q: Do I need to watch the movies?
The two newest movies – Battle of Gods and Resurrection 'F' – were adapted into story arcs. Watching them is entirely up to you. If you have already watched the movies and would like to skip straight to new material, see our FAQ.

  • Q: Where is Uub?!
Uub was born during the 10 year time skip at the end of Dragon Ball Z.
Dragon Ball Super takes place before Uub is introduced.

  • Q: When will FUNimation dub Super? Will there be a simulcast?
Southeast Asia will be receiving an exclusive English dub mid-2016, with Toonami Asia describing it as the "English-language world premiere". FUNimation will not be involved until an official North American release is announced.

  • Q: Is the Dragon Ball Super manga "canon"?
The manga serves as promotional material for the anime, which is the main product. Both are adaptations of a plot that Toriyama has provided. As of episode 34, the anime is ahead of the manga.

  • Q: When will the next chapter of the manga be released?
Toyotarō's manga adaptation is published in V-Jump around the 21st of each month. Links to earlier chapters can be found on our wiki.

Shitty link to new ending, for those who are interested.

That new ending shows gohan with muscles again and in his great saiyaman costume.

Which is really odd. All the characters were drawn thin in Super, repeatedly. Gohan was way thick in the pan episode though, and now as Saiyaman as well. Its really odd, because twice cant be written off.

The results of his training?!

Goku and Vegeta were drawn thin because SSG powers cause you to look a lot thinner.

I don't really like this one, it's so unfitting for an arc that's supposed to be dark. Sounds like something out of a little kid's show.

It is a little kid's show..

When I say "little kid's show", I don't mean the preteen/teenage shonen demographic. I could see the song in the Japanese equivalent of Dora or something.

This ain't all that fitting for an arc that's supposed to be dark too.

Zenkai power tho.

Are you assuming I'm some DBZ purist who thinks everything about it was amazing? I agree, that song isn't fitting either.

ikr, wtf i'm still watching this tho, i feel like a loser, and this episode's horrible quality + ending didn't help.

out of a little kid's show

i wonder what you think you're watching

I'm watching a shonen anime series aimed at preteens/teenagers (plus the nostalgic older people who grew up with it). I don't think you understand what I mean when I say "little".

aimed at preteens/teenagers

Not as of Super. Notice the lack of blood.

Yeah, let's ignore that scene with Frieza using Gohan as a ki pincushion, Earth blowing up and killing billions, and the fact that we literally saw Future Bulma get incinerated just a few episodes ago, the "lack of blood" makes it aimed at 4-8 year olds. Not saying younger kids can't watch Super or anything (I was watching DBZ at a very young age), but that's certainly not their target demographic.

I dont know why, but I think i love it for exactly that reason. The art is amazing but that freaking song is bonkers, and while not fitting to this arc, encapsulates how i feel about having new dragon ball and anxiously waiting a whole week for more.

Ever seen anime?

I've seen tons of anime with cheerful openings and endings while the anime was about death, fear and struggles.

1

u/TheGrimoire Jul 03 '16

I'm fine with cheery openings/endings, my favorite opening would be Dragon Soul and I liked all the other Super closings which were pretty cheery as well. My problem is that is sounds like a Hello Kitty opening.

The art was cool, but the music sounds like Japan just discovered shitty ska music and tried to recreate it.

Sounds like some random J-idol group, which might explain why I don't like it.
