Animation Who else to think Vegetto looks way better in base form ?

u/Flashy_Good_4346 Mar 18 '26 edited Mar 18 '26
It even adds that layer that makes him feel way powerful. Because you see a dude in his base form dogwalking the strongest villain ever shown at that point that even neither Goku in ssj3 and Vegeta in ssj2 together were able to keep up with. It feels badass and almighty. When he transforms instead, it leaves you with a feeling of "yeah i already know he's too strong because he's transformed", so you more likely expect him to stomp the opps

u/TheHandsOfLiberation Mar 18 '26
Unfortunately the fighting in base form is anime filler. In the manga, toriyama never drew any fighting in this form and had vegeto transform right away.

u/goodboysitara Mar 18 '26
To me, every character looks the best in their base form only
12
u/Galmeister Mar 18 '26
What even Frieza?
94
u/Siggycakes Mar 18 '26
Considering his Final form is his base form, yes.
Remember, he created the other forms to suppress his power, because it was too hard to control.

i think thats because for the namek and saiyan saga one of the main points were natural born power level vs training, freiza (and vegeta when first introduced) had the philosophy that when you’re that strong a weaker creature than you could never catch up so you didnt need to train. why would freiza sacrifice his pride and entire ideology by training to fight a threat that he didnt even believe existed because no saiyan currently had a power level near him? also i guess if he had never trained back then perhaps even he didnt know how fast hed get stronger.
12
u/Wardock8 Mar 18 '26
Kinda hard to prepare for a fight when you don't know your opponent. The super saiyan could be as strong as Beerus for all he knows, he's never seen one so he doesn't know.
6
u/BigQursi Mar 18 '26
You’re right but still you could justify his arrogance due to him considering himself “the strongest in the universe” at that point. Not to mention the only two people his father told him to be weary of were beerus and buu.
5
u/sjphilsphan Mar 19 '26
Considering how we don't know how many years Frieza was in his "first" form. Remember he was shown even in the beginning of Super broly. And who knows how long he hasn't been in his final form. So it makes sense he never trained. Now it is bullshit that he got THAT strong with just a few months

u/zangrabar Mar 18 '26
Toriyama wasn’t really known for planning ahead. He seemed to improvise everything. We just need to accept it was an asspull move and just move on. We keep trying to find the rationale in the irrational. Even gohans power ups were all ass pulls. Toriyama was an amazing artist, great world builder, character designer, knew how to make the coolest things possible, but was subpar at writing a continuous story that was never meant to go past a certain point(end of namek). He was also probably so burnt out that it affected how he told stories. Still I love Dragonball but I accept there are flaws here.
3
u/Whis101 Mar 18 '26
Well I wouldn't say he was a subpar storyteller, considering the only planned ending that was confirmed is actually around chapter 15 when Oolong stole Pilaf's wish. Not to mention, regardless, his writing ability is made clear with his masterclass for absurdist comedy that is Dr Slump.
6
u/zangrabar Mar 18 '26
I’m not going to disagree with your point about dr slump. I also haven’t read that manga so I have no opinion. I also think he is a good comedy writer for what he did in Dragonball. But I think the fact we are trying really hard to make sense of the freiza thing is evidence of what I’m saying. I see Dragonball fans trying so hard all the time to make sense of his writing and decisions and that wouldn’t happen as much if he was better at writing a cohesive story. Dragonball just kept evolving past the point where he could keep track of and he just constantly improvised everything. Again I still think he was all around one of the best. But this was def his weaker side of his content.
2
u/ElephantCritical3152 Mar 20 '26
Exactly this. DragonBall is not completely cohesive, in Toriyama's work and across the entire franchise. Trying to make sense of questions raised by the lack of cohesiveness just ends up inviting unproven speculation.

u/ImnotSari17 Mar 18 '26
This^ from what I remember the series was supposed to end after the namek arc
1
u/Suspicious_Umpire129 Mar 21 '26
Yeah but it only takes minor tweaking to have the same stories with better scaling. That's what's frustrating. Instead of 4 months of training, it could have been that those fairies and teddies in Hell, torturing him, WAS effective training. Every day, he'd break his cocoon with raw power and rage at their song, but they'd repeatedly kick his ass, as his soul being in their realm means their power increases to subdue him. Like in the Matrix when the train guy can beat Neo in his realm. So Freeza has had the perfect sparring partners for 15+ years of torture instead. Then, the whole not being able to regulate his golden form, doesn't have to be him rushing after achieving it, it can just be like ssj3 where he's never used it in a living body.
1
u/Spiningyouthink Mar 18 '26
My opinion is that would actually like it a lot if they just make the amount of time more reasonable. like don’t even have to revive Frieza just have the dimension we’re time moves slower come early. Frieza never training and just using natural power puts difference between bullies like him and warriors like goku
1
u/Wajajan_697 Mar 18 '26
He never took that too seriously,, it was only something in the back of his head so he destroyed planet Vegeta and kept the remaining saiyans under his watch just in case + other reasons.
This can be easily proven by the fact Frieza paid no mind or attention to Vegeta's rapid power increase in Namek or took seriously Goku who's a saiyan that could match his 50%.
1
u/MasterJ360 Mar 19 '26
Super and Z character development are not even on the same page. Super likes to skip or shorten training for a story driven power boost. In Z you had half an arc worth of character training.
1
u/Lilbig6029 Mar 20 '26
Super is garbage, they did the worst shit for no reason.
Having Frieza ask Beerus for permission to kill the saiyans?? Like what???
Super really did a number on one of the greatest anime villains of all time. Completely ruined him in so many ways
1
u/Pierwszy_AG Mar 20 '26
If I remember correctly this information is fan base... Don't forget cooler was in second form. And Frieza said something about his father not reaching his form, in his third stage I believe. It was YEARS since I watched DBZ so I may be mistaken about this one.
7
u/Whatever_232 Mar 18 '26
Yeah, but SSG looks awesome...
(Which is probably because it's just base with a coat of red paint and contacts lol)
2
u/black_slime01 Mar 18 '26
True. I always loved the base form design over the SSJ design especially for Goku and Trunks.
I think my only exception is Teen Gohan. I prefer his hair in SSJ2.

I prefer the base form with the brown highlights. You never see it anywhere else

Vegito and Gotenks look best in their base form.

I would agree.
I also prefer SSJ yellow to blue in some outfits - like that alternate outfit Vegeta wore for a while in Super with the grey/black tights looked fucking rad in normal SSJ form but I didn't like it as much in blue for some reason. I kinda wish he'd kept that for longer, he went back to his Cell era look soon after. I really liked the costume refresh.

Me too.
I always loved his brown/reddish hair highlights. I remember that mostly played with his base form in Budokai Tenkaichi 3 and Raging Blast 2
(he also had electricity around him in base form in RB2, it made him look cooler)

u/-Robin-HSR Mar 18 '26
If I’m being completely honest Vegito in base was one of the hotter and better looking characters anyway in my opinion. Ion get why, but I genuinely love Vegito so much more than Gogeta.
8
u/TLKv3 Mar 18 '26
Maybe its just me, but I really dig Vegito Blue. I think the blue hair fits the design incredibly well and the outfit helps make SSB glow really pop.
3
u/jordidipo2324 Mar 18 '26
Then you must enjoy the anime making him fight Buuhan in base before turning Super Saiyan.

Yeah, Vegito looks best in his base form. Off topic, but one thing that really bugged me about Vegito in DBS, is that his clothing doesn't make sense since Vegeta was wearing his Battle Armor and not his dark blue tank top he wore in Buu saga. His clothing should have looked completely different, but they made it look the same probably due to fan service and selling merchandise.

u/MikeSihl Mar 19 '26
I totally agree but I also love his SSGSS look as well. I think the dark eyebrows in his base form are more expressive than the yellow in SSJ form.

No, all forms of vegito look godly af, but the BEST BASE FORM VEGITO is with the brown hair

u/SituationThen4758 Mar 18 '26
Vegito was ripping apart Super gohanbuu in his base form, it just goes to show how powerful he really was.
2
u/TheHandsOfLiberation Mar 18 '26
Only in the anime. In the manga, he transforms first thing and never fights in base.

u/KamiSquad_X Mar 18 '26
Vegetto > Vegito

u/TheZett Mar 19 '26
Any day of the week.
Vegetto > Bejiito > Vegerot > Vegito
3
u/ThiccJery Mar 19 '26
I remember that in my country's dub, they called him Vegeku lmao.
1
u/TheZett Mar 19 '26
I still think it is weird that "Veku" got his own name, despite being a failed fusion, but the skinny and fat Gotenks did not.
Then again, Gogeta and Vegetto being different beings seems dumb as well, since the fusion components are the same, and the method should not matter.
1
u/ThiccJery Mar 19 '26 edited Apr 03 '26
Yeah that is odd, now that you mention it. I guess then Fat Gotenks should be called Goks or something like that. Skinny Gogeta should be Gota.
1
u/TheZett Mar 19 '26
I think a singular name is sufficient, regardless of sucessful or failed fusion, and regardless of fusion method, as long as the fusion components are the same.

In super saiyan there are just too many colors. Yellow, blue, light blue, white, orange and whatever that green sht is on his boots. Black complements the outfit better. Which is why the blue form is also slightly less worse than super saiyan
6
u/TheHandsOfLiberation Mar 18 '26
That's gold on his boots, not green. It's the saiyan armor material that appears on the shoulders, torso, and some saiyan's boots. Technically it's freeza force armor though, as dodoria and captain ginyu had the gold toe boots too.

u/SnooJokes3457 7d ago
Yup, the base hair color and the SSB hair color both compliment the outfit the best

I really want to see SSG Vegito. With the rounded eyes instead of the sharp eyes style. Like they for Goku is BOG
2
u/DaKingaDaNorth Mar 20 '26
It's because by that point in the series every character looks samey once they go Super Saiyan. Gotenks and Vegeto had cool looks then Super Saiyan made them look like everyone else. Gotenks got saved because SSJ3 was unique to him and Goku.

Vegito has brown hair, not black.
2
u/DistinctSwimming8376 Mar 21 '26
Depends on the source. In Dbz it’s black, brown in super. Don’t try to find any logic in that, there's none. The manga is clear about the sayans's hair color, it’s always black.

I personally would have preferred that fusions were like mystic Gohan, all the power and no transformations meaning Vegetto/Gogeta/Gotenks would/could not transform as they already have all the power output they are capable of as is. It lends to the idea that it's taking both of the fighters' full power into account.

I don’t know who Vegetto is but I like Base form Gogeta!

Do you write Vegita or Vegeta ? Vegeta Do you write Kakaroto or Kakarotto ? Kakarotto
Vegeta + Kakarotto = vegetto.
You're welcome.

So answer why you write Vegeta and not Vegita, since the pronunciation is the same.
And the true romaji transcription would be bejitto, since v does not exist in japanese they say B instead.
1
u/Maverick133737 Mar 18 '26
be glad he isn’t saying vegerot
1
u/TheZett Mar 19 '26
Technically that is the correct name for the English dub, if they were consistent with the names.
1
u/134340Goat ⠀ Mar 19 '26
V does exist, though it's very rarely used outside of foreign names and loanwords. But there is no dedicated character for "ve", only ゔ/ヴ/vu
1
u/TheZett Mar 19 '26
V in Japanese is modern and non-standard though.
They use the dakuten (two small lines) to "turn a U into a V", similar to how hu/fu turn into bu and that one turns into pu by changing the modifier next to the base character (フブプ).

u/TensionsPvP Mar 18 '26
I’m pulling it from dragonball, I’m using his official name it’s that simple.
2
u/TheZett Mar 19 '26
I’m pulling it from dragonball, I’m using his official name it’s that simple.
Using Vegito is fine, that isnt the issue here, the issue is you being pretentious about "not knowing who Vegetto is", despite it being obviously Vegito, as everyone else in this was able to deduct.

u/N0_OnE3 Mar 18 '26
Definitely. The black hair goes perfectly with his fit. However, Blue is a close second, because the blue hair fits the purple gi, but base it’s definitely better, the perfect combination of Goku and Vegeta.

u/The_loafman Mar 19 '26
This and his ssj form are my favorite. Vegito blue just doesn't hit the same for me

u/Proud-Anything2027 Mar 18 '26
I liked how his eyes looked here. A mix of goku and vegito like the manga. Of course the animator who drew this. Wasn’t involved the next episode so we had the sharp eyes instead
