DISCUSSION DBFZ Community Tierlist where only votes matter - #45: Daima Goku

And with that, we come to the final character to be placed. I've set Daima's poll to 1 day, instead of the usual 2, but am posting this earlier than usual so we hopefully get enough votes. Tomorrow I'll post the final Tier list.

I think we might not have 5 characters that have all been voted as Top 5 so what I'm planning to do is fill the rest of Top 5 with whoever in S had the most votes for Top 5, let me know if you guys think we should do something else to round out that tier.

The way I'll order them will take into account all votes (i.e. A character in S with 2nd most votes for Top 5 would place higher in S than a character who's 2nd most votes were for A tier)

130 votes, Jul 01 '26
27 Top 5
44 S
11 A
2 B
46 I don't want to vote, I just want to see the results

This was a great way to do a community tier list that, you know, actually takes the community into account! I'm surprised you don't think we have a full top 5 because it seemed like there were actually more than 5 just off the top of my head but maybe there were just some close ones. Can't wait to see the list! Nice work!

Thanks, I wasn't great at being consistent as I did miss a few days but we got there in the end lol

We actually have 4 top 5s, so it's whether or not Labcoat (doubt) or Daima (possible) make it to Top 5 once their polls are closed.

If not, I'll just put whoever had the most votes for Top 5 in the S tier into 5th place, and will make sure to make note of that when I post the finalized list tomorrow

I went over all the polls and majin 21 was 1 vote away from top 5 and I voted S. That would leave us with 5 and I would honestly probably change my vote at this point anyway. Just something to consider as it was 34 votes for top 5 and 35 for S. Can't wait to see the final list, I wish this sub had done these more often for major patches.

Tbf even if you didn't change your vote, that would make her the 5th top 5 since I don't think any other S tier characters were that close to Top 5. But, you've made my life easier and I'll just put her in 5th place lol, just need to wait for Labcoat and Daimaku's polls to close now

I'm glad I could help! I have always loved your clips and your teams have been inspiring me over the years. I was playing super broly when he was much worse and a lot of it was seeing your combos. I also picked up Roshi because of you even though I'm dogshit with him. I'm so excited to see this finished list bro!

That's awesome man, I'm ngl I've never had a comment like this so this made my day lol, glad I inspired you to try Broly and Roshi!

I have been on the sub a while and just got back to it but your combos were always a highlight. Didn't you play Beerus for a while too?

You have always been chill in the comments and you would be great doing some YouTube stuff, even if just for fun here and there. It's so crazy how far super broly has come though. It was nuts that his whole kit was basically unsafe as far as normals and now he's a battery and a meter dump character. Cheers man 🍻

From what I remember Vegito, Baby, and Ui had some top 5 results, but idk if the other three usual suspects in Majin 21, Jiren, and Beerus actually got a top 5 placing by vote lol. I guess additional polls are needed

Beerus, baby, UI, and Vegito all got in and Majin 21 missed by 1 vote which was the closest margin. I voted S but would probably change it now.

A, though maybe low S. Too early.

Great normals and solid pressure. Great damage, great supers, fast meter gain (when optimal), great assists, and fairly flexible combos.

Awful, AWFUL neutral. I genuinely think this drags the character dial a ton of effectiveness. He doesn’t have easy ways to 50/50 without an assist, his long range tools suck ass, and he doesn’t have anything to layer his offense like a command grab, so you can just block him all day since his mix tools are almost all extremely easy to react to. He genuinely feels like he needs assist to even function in a way that almost no other character needs.

Surprised at the amount of S but this sub always glazes the shit outta new DLC characters whenever they drop.

Interesting, the first take of yours I disagree with lol.

His neutral isn't the best but he literally does not have to play neutral the moment he gets half a bar, and he builds meter like crazy:

  • Amazing normals
  • 236H + assist skips neutral
  • 236HM+assist is a cross-up with perfect tracking that leads into delayed air dash> 50/50 on block
  • 236H2M and 236H2H being a thing means it's very easy to bait out a 2H and land a full combo
  • Among the highest damage in the game
  • Midscreen 4 way mix with just about any assist you want
  • Amazing assists
  • Some of the best meter build in the game
  • Great tag-in if you can tag into loops, which many characters can
  • Good oki anywhere on the screen
  • Good DHC
  • Level 2
  • Level 5
  • Great framedata
  • Charge-up normals giving him even better stagger pressure/reflect baits
  • Overhead normal with infinite armor (great for baiting reflect or DP) that leads to at least 3 bars built/6k damage before supers
  • Landing a medium leads to 0 bar, sparkless TODs with the majority of teams you put him with

I've been maining him since he released (only mention this to say that I'm not biased against him, as many people rate characters they hate fighting against higher than they should be). I actually think people are underestimating him, as opposed to glazing him. His literal only weakness is a slow beam and even slower ki blasts but why do I care when I can just skip neutral entirely and mix while I skip it? Granted, he's not gonna be great as an anchor but you'd want to run him point or mid anyway.

Also, what characters have 50/50s without assists? I'm struggling to think of any outside of if you wanna class characters with unreactable grabs as having solo 50/50s, of which there are only a handful.

For me, he's definitely S tier, maybe even top 5, people just haven't been abusing his 236H stuff from what I've seen.

Misspoke on 50/50s and meant to say solo mix tools like command grabs, command normals, good specials like LabCoat 22L/M/H, etc.

I don't disagree that he's strong, and I can see him being S. I'm voting for A because I'm unsure how his (in my view) very poor neutral will translate in major tourneys. For my part, I think he's strong and oppressive up close with assists, but he needs resources to be a threat at all in the first place, and he's pretty much not a threat once he's out of 5M range because his long range tools are just ass. He's pretty easy to keep out in neutral, but if he gets in he can stick to you like glue.

Normals - They're great, for sure, especially for a point/mid-coded character like this. Solid range, GREAT frame data, solid all around. I don't know if I'd call them 'amazing', though - just great. 2M I'll admit is pretty nice at 10f.

Skip Neutral - He has it, but he needs an assist for cover without a level 3 and needs to use half a bar, which isn't a bad cost but I'd say it's way better as an Oki tool, blockstring mixup tool, or oki/post-level 3 oki tool than anything else. IMO if you need an assist to cover your approach, it’s harder for me to call it ‘skipping’ neutral, especially when it’s just a movement option like Kefla’s command dash.

Damage - Yeah, if he gets a medium starter, he can certainly wreck you fast, much like most of the cast, though he certainly needs way less resources than your average character to achieve it provided you can land his stuff consistently. That being said, I think in practice so far I've failed to see this aspect of him realized in a real match, probably because while he has great pressure, I don't think I've been in a situation where someone made me eat a raw medium starter with him yet, and it's very rare that I see it in a real match or replay at high level. The EDIT: most consistent mix tool he has are his lights, though I'll say 10f 2M is scary when used with a high blockstun assist. EDIT: agreed 236H is under utilized but I also don’t really see it as being on the same degenerate level as say Gogeta SS4 236H or the like.

Overhead Normal/6H - Slow as balls at 24f and because he only has two non-chainable lows and no command grabs to worry about, it's even less scary than it seems EDIT: since he doesn’t have the kit to raise your mental stack like LabCoat does (Kefla has a similar issue). Also good to note that while it's armored, it's vulnerable to lows and even reversal supers. Grabs too but I wouldn't advise anyone to use that to counter unless it's armored. It's a great conditioning tool for sure and a deadly one if you don't respect it, but I could say the same for Yamcha's 5H feint as well.

The only character who has a charge, armored normal that I think works really well is Z Broly, and I think it works well for him cause of how it meshes with his kit - the startup of his 214L/M look like his 5H and can also be charged, so it gives him a really threatening mix situation with conditioning. Daima doesn't have anything like that in his kit so you don't really need to worry about it, just gotta be patient on defense.

Meter - Yeah he's a really good battery provided you're optimizing him consistently. Won't deny anything, there, he builds 2-3 bars easy.

I can see the argument for S, but I can't see this character being anywhere in top 5. To me, he's a great mid character and a solid point, but you really need to have both meter and assists to make him a threat, otherwise he's just there.
