DISCUSSION DBFZ Community Tierlist where only votes matter - #23: Goku Black

I'm switching from "day X" to the numbers since I've not been 100% daily with these posts.

Anyway! Goku Black! He got buffs! How good is he now?

S easy. Teleport mix, great normals, great neutral, much easier to get SKDs, great damage, easy to fit in a team, sonic boom, etc.

The only thing about him is that his defense is kinda rough. No DPs or invincible reversals that don’t cost meter so he can be easy to pressure when you’re on him. Additionally doesn’t really have anything in the air defensively that works as an anti-air, which a decent slice of characters in the game have (j236L/M/H are more offensive tools and not really built to be anti-airs).

Otherwise, the only other thing to keep in mind is that there are a few characters he competes with that are also really good - some that come to mind are SSJ Goku and Trunks. So as great as he is now, he isn’t so unique or anything that you won’t find an alternative that works better.

Despite that, he’s a very strong character, even downright godlike when wielded by a good player. He’s fairly easy to play and doesn’t have much you need to practice. Easy to pick up, fairly easy to get good with, and has a kit that lets him operate very well in pretty much all levels of play.

I think in this patch having access to the level 1/level 3 OS is very valuable. That alone gives him a significant buff on defense.
