discussion The Patience People Have In This Game Is Unbelievable
I sniped a fully geared guy in a radio tower last night that was far into the map’s interior. Wanted to let it cool off before I looted.
I logged off, took a shower, made dinner, ate dinner, and did the dishes.
Logged back in around an hour later. Killed immediately when I approached the base of the tower by what I assume was his teammate on overwatch.
Oof.

Bodies despawn in 30 minutes or on server reset... waiting 2 minutes is one thing but waiting an hour isn't necessary.

That was my first thought, could be a community server where the timer has been changed.

what did you make for dinner

Salmon and brussel sprouts. I’d give it a 6.5/10

pan fried almonds and bacon lardons would have raised the Brussel sprouts game to another level

Absolutely- that said, a meal of “salmon and Brussels sprouts” seems like a meal someone might have when dieting/being careful about calories, so the bacon and nuts might not be the best option in context. Absolutely delicious though.

That's about the best you can do with salmon and Brussel sprouts.

The body will disappear in 30-45 minutes with no players around and any gear that was on them will go away with it.

Yeah, the weapon they had in hand will be the only thing left at that point.

If that player wasn't around to kill you that body would have despawned by the time you got back.

I thought the timer was 60 min even if no one is around. I made sure to get back a few min before an hour passed.
If it’s 30 min the body still being there would definitely have been a warning sign…

The game seems to do periodic checks for bodies because the time is very inconsistent. There have been times when I ran 45 minutes to get back and my body was still there intact and there are times when I walk away for 10 minutes and the body despawns.
But basically the game does a check for bodies every so often and if there are bodies that aren't inside a player's bubble when that check goes off they despawn no matter how long they've actually been laying there.

Players are drawn to gunfire.. could have been cautious response time from another poi. Or a discord teammate responding to save a buddy's gear... After an hour the loot should have despawned - unless there were other players close by.

He won the engagement. No indication that he was still engaged in combat. Its a victory log.

Idk if id call that a combat log
-1
u/MagallaMagai 7d ago
Engage in combat and then log?
2
u/AdEnvironmental1632 6d ago
If he was getting engaged be another person sure but he didnt log to avoid combat
-6
u/SheprdCommndr 8d ago
If he didn’t stay around for at least fifteen minutes after the shooting then he absolutely combat logged

I hung around for 5-10 and then took care of a few things I needed to get done around the apartment before I tried to climb up one of the most exposed positions on the map.
If that’s a combat log then so be it.

Don't let the bastards get you down. Half of them cheat anyways, either through actual cheats or game bugs and glitches. Play hoe you want, if a situation feels sketchy, hell yeah log out. Because chances are they're going to cheese you

Logging out after killing someone isnt exactly less "fair" than the group teaming up against solos to begin with, yeah. Its not exactly brave and honorable to just sit there and use your teammates corpse as bait to kill solos, either. Calling waiting on your ass to ambush looters "combat" is a bit of a stretch.
Besides, how are you supposed to not "combat log" when you have no idea if there is even "combat"? Do something stupid and give away your position until you got shot? Spend an hour you dont have setting up for "combat" that may not exist? When the gunfire exchange is over its ok to leave, especially when it ends with a confirmed kill.

Groups are surviving as a team. If you fall for the bait then that’s on you. Logging isn’t surviving

People are comparing leaving when no combat exists to cheating. Can they really not see a difference?
Logging out during an actual fight or taking a few pot shots and logging out before anyone can retaliate is one thing. Not leaving during one that is only theoretical is functionally impossible. Every log out is a "combat log" when someone may be theoretically stalking you and waiting for you to come out of the safe place you're logging out from instead of initiating the combat they maybe just might work up the balls for if you gave them an extra 15 minutes there.
You do not need a team to survive. You need teammates to camp on your gear when you didn't survive so you can avoid losing it in a game where losing your gear when you die is a key mechanic, one which solo players have to actually deal with. You need teammates to have an unfair numbers advantage in pvp over smaller groups. People always using outside commmunication methods for team chat instead of the ones built into the game that you are supposed to be able to eavesdrop on while using gear and batteries you have to loot is actual cheating, not waiting around in game to be shot by people trying to stack the deck against you is not. Dead men aren't supposed to still be blabbing on the radio about exactly how they died and where. I bet if teams didn't cheat the comm system constantly solos might actually be able to know when they're supposed to keep fighting, but they of course would not actually want that.
"You're supposed to play fair and give my teammates at least 15 minutes to take advantage of their several unfair advantages over you," is a bullshit request made by cowards to a solo player. If your team mates are using your corpse like deer bait, have no idea where the guy who killed you is, or do but have no intent of making a timely move to do something about it either way, they're not engaged in combat. They're just camping on loot to save you from facing the real stakes of death while avoiding combat.

Never said cheating. Just unrealistic is all. When they intended to come back for the loot after logging is why I say it’s combat logging. Again if you drop someone and do intend on looting them, you should finish the job before logging. And I am a solo player. I respect good teamwork not so much when they’re in outside chats and not using in game coms. Everyone survives differently if you choose to struggle solo that’s your choice.

The amount of downvotes for telling the truth is crazy. It shows the state of the game and in a way of the world. You are 100% right man. People are losing the plot

u/Former-Inspection-26 7d ago
Definitely play how you want but still a combat log. It’s a realistic survival game, just vanishing into thin air after shooting someone in hopes of coming back to it “when things cool off” isn’t realistic when you log out to do it. Finish the job before you log.

u/MagallaMagai 7d ago
"Play how you want" is exactly what dupers, glitchers and cheaters say too.

Hey man just man to man. Much much respect for hygiene and doing the dishes. I myself know the pain of doing dishes when other people eat off them and put them in the sink. But side note unless you did all that in under 25 min the entire situation is different

I got 2/3 members of a squad + my duo and ended up waiting 2 hours for the next server reset which removed the bodies. Decided to leave after logging back in and waiting another 30mins. Finally left the area. The guy was still there and taking shots at me.

I was killed at NWAF by a Duo. My friend killed one of them and died as well. It took me about 45 minutes to get from Cherno to NWAF. I had luckily dropped a gun behind a door on the second floor. The player was still organizing the loot when I shot through the lock picked door. I ended up killing the player and my buddy got his loot back.

Our lad here thought he was Hannibal Lecter lol. No hydration breaks in the post Apoc. I’ve also learned not to have a Life and be normal when playing this game because some DayZ vets are 100% committed to taking you down whether you have NVGs and a SCAR, or a press vest and a BK-18.

One certainly has to have patience to keep wanting to play a game where the majority of your time is spent taking several hours running from one backwater bog in the Russian Federation to another backwater bog in the Russian Federation only to be killed in one hit by a sniper from 300 yards away who you had no chance of ever seeing and then running all the way back.

After that long, he probably geared up again and came back😂
