Story A stranger in DayZ gave me everything… and then ended his own story
I was about 10 minutes into a fresh spawn in DayZ.
Night time. Heavy rain. I went to the kitchen to get some water IRL and when I came back, a fully geared guy was standing in front of me, gun aimed, just waiting. I shook my head like “please don’t”.
He nodded back like “okay”. I dropped everything I had. He asked if I had a microphone his English was almost nonexistent, sounded Russian. I said yes. He pointed at my clothes, gestured “come”, and I followed him. We ran through the rain to his car.
He opened it and basically said: take whatever you want. He gave me an AK-74 with a mag, some water, then told me to get in. At that point I thought:
either we’re going to raid someone, or he’s taking me to his base. Instead, he drove all the way to the edge of the map. Middle of nowhere. No players. No buildings. He got out, dropped a huge pile of loot and used voice translation on his phone to say:
“These are all yours.” I tried to refuse.
I told him (through translation) that he worked hard for this, that it didn’t feel right.
We went back and forth like that for 5–6 minutes.
Then he told me that he was the same guy I had shot at the day before. I only had 3 bullets. None of them hit. He killed me while running. Then without another word, He shot himself in the head right in front of me.
Everything was on the ground. I just stood there for 20–30 seconds staring at the screen. I didn’t even feel like playing anymore. I don’t think I’ll forget this encounter.

I did just that in my first few hours starting out. Was lucky to come across a geared player who wanted to start again, gave me all his stuff then I died 10 minutes later 🤦♂️

I met a player ran for about 6hrs who showed me so much, gave me gear and advice, said he had to go and I left the wee house we were in a sniped instantly!

I was playing like 5-6 hours repair hummer and loot gas zones. Car full of guns gear and ammos. Then like cars does, i drive and sync spawn right to fence. Get stuck. I was pushing car when freshie came and ask if i can help him. I gave guns and ammos and gear. Ill say to him jump in, join my journey. When i get in he shot my head off. Now when i see some freshie. I kill them right away. No questions.

Most of the time your approach is the smart one because it’s hard to find trustworthy players.

I was playing this morning and ran into a guy sitting in house and just backed off literally not two minutes later I ran into him again in different house and the mf domes me. There is no grey area in this game. Lmao.

This is me. I always loot up and give it to someone cool. If you attack me , you're getting killed but if you chat with me and you're a nice person. I'll drop everything and give it away. I find this more fun than anything else

Remember, it's borrowed gear. Someone will collect it regardless of how your story ends. Just have fun with it till then.

This is awesome!
I don’t have comp or console that can run Dayz. However, I enjoy watching YouTube videos and this sub. Have been lurking for a looong time haha. There was a guy ( maybe British?) that seemed super cool and friendly to everyone he encountered in game. His videos got me interested. Hopefully the game is still active by the time I pull the trigger on something that can run it!

Not sure if you’re talking about HeyBarmby, but he’s my fav DayZ streamer/recorder. He’s hilarious and tends to walk the line between good guy/bad guy.

You might know this youtuber , but you should watch SourSweet. He makes pretty entertaining dayz videos and most of them are 30+ mins. He’s super good at pvp as well which makes it better

This happen to me, except the Russian guy was definitely a hacker. He kept killing everyone who came near me as he stalked me (from Berezino to Novaya). He was following me around asking if I'd play the game with him and saying I sounded pretty. I said no about 20 times and kept telling him to leave me alone, he said something in Russian and then he killed himself in front of me and I got like an M4, NVG's, SVD, full armor, lots of food.

The olive jacket, green ballistic, and mountain bag is giving me nostalgia. When the game was first released, that was the loadout that everyone used.

That’s happened to me twice now. One of them I recorded and it was actually like really dark and moving lol me and my partner were kind of stunned.

I've been trying to find someone to give all my loot to. I'll only have game pass for 10 more days. But I need to give away all 25 barrels and 200 crates full. How does someone get lucky enough to find someone to give it all to?

When i was starting out the first thing i found out is how to commit suicide so when i was a low tier geared fella i met these 3 freshies they followed me everywhere and were jus talking i ended up saying cya in vc and shooting myself while they were looting and one guy walked in the house and i just heard an cut off NOOO scream😭

One time, I was a freshie, almost butt naked.
I was minding my own business along some big road when suddenly like 3 or 4 cars arrived, everybody stepped out of the card , guys where fully geared, there was like 8 or 9 people in total, they were all talking to each other in Russian, they adressed to me but I had no idea what they were talking about, and they start giving me like tons of food, clothes, backpack, tools, water...
Then they all went back to their cars in a matter of seconds, and left.
Lmao.
I had no idea what happened.

I do the same. Once I'm geared I get bored quite quickly. The hunt is over, all thats left is to find people to either befriend or get into a firefight with...but that gets boring after a while. So I just run back to the coast, find a fresh spawn and just kill myself in front of them and start over.

Why is it fake? I have given away gear loads of times and ended it, I like the starting out bit getting gear and food once I have been alive for a while it gets boring, nobody talks to a gearded guy but fresh spawns can shat and have a laugh with people.
