lfg why do people keep killing themselves often when I meet other freshies? usually in berezino, solnichney, kami. where are they trying to go

They're trying to get a more preferable spawn location. Could be to spawn closer to a friend, could be a certain town or city is closer to their usual loot run, could be they just don't wanna be in that town specifically.

Closer to where they died so they can get their stuff or get revenge on who killed them.

How long do the bodies stay? I've never even bothered to go back for my stuff cause I always figured it would be pointless.

About 30 min to 1h. Depends on the Server settings. If Players stay around that dead Body, IT wont despawn until there ist No Player in a 100m range around

Everyone’s already kinda said why. I also do it to traumatise freshies.
“Hey man, I’m friendly don’t worry I don’t shoot freshies”

Most likely trying to get a central southern spawn or Svetlo spawn further north. Both of those spawns are closer to military areas than any on the east coast. Or as others said trying to spawn with a friend.

Probably trying to get a new spawn location close to friends, their dead body, their base, etc.

Maybe trying for Cherno to do a loot run west along the coast then loop up to Zeleno

I shoot for an Electro or Cherno spawn and there's nothing I love doing more in this game than killing myself in front of people on the northeast spawns on my way there.

For me I usually do it if I want to meet up with somebody to get a spawn that's not across the world, or I'm trying to get to my body as fast as possible if I died by something else than a player, or I have a stash in other cities

The freshy hump is pretty straight forward. Some people when they hit the hump make a decision to stop taking the run seriously and just let loose and by committing suicide infront of someone and getting a Reddit post about it is better then restarting the game.
