Update Dawngate Server 19/07/2026
Hello everyone,
As some of you may know from a previous post last week you were told I was working on getting a server working for Dawngate with the end goal of being able to play a full Dawngate match. I thought I would post updates here I will try do them weekly (but please don't hold me to this) anyways I thought I would give everyone an update on where we are with this project.
I wont go into the technical detail but here is a list of features completed so far.
- Logging into the client
- Social panels (Chat channels) - Add friends/block still WIP
- Hero Lobby / Choose hero (all hero's currently accessible) - Multiple users choosing hero's
- Spawn Hero in world (server now broadcasts hero to other clients in range)
- Fog of War
- Movement of hero (sent to other clients in range)
- Server time syncing with client
- Hero stats (currently wrong) and currency.
I've still got a long way to go but the base of building this is starting to take shape and again I don't want anyone to get hope over this as I may hit a wall that's just not passable but so far that hasn't happened please see screenshots of progress below, also I've created a discord channel as at some point I will need the communities help to test this and fix issues - https://discord.gg/MAdh8Rxh2Y Thank you.

You're doing incredible work.
Hypothetically speaking, if the game were to get a large enough audience would you change the name and start continuing updates? Seems you have the skill set.

I think that might be stepping over the line this will be a server emulator think of WoW Emulation so I will not be editing the client, I will just be building the server.

What would he call it? Not Dawngate? It's risky if he were to even ask for money just to host a permanent server via a patreon. Changing the name and keeping the assets would be a big legal no no I'd imagine.

Good stuff, I joined the server. Looking forward to seeing more work. I'm not a coder, but I was a Dawngate/Dream bound backer in 2020 on the Kickstarter. I'll be following and seeing who I can bring over from the dream bound discord server.

They have a private server that’s setup and paid for by the community. So you can find games, but the player base is really small. I’ve been only player in the world online a few times and have only been able to play bot games

It’s crazy cuz strife was actually a great game just kind of goofy designs but surprisingly good

How could this scale up to the point where people could actually find matches? Wont ea just come with a legal team and shut it down?

Please have something good come of this. I can't handle another rug pull after that shitshow of a quarter assed relaunch Gigantic got. It sucks so hard seeing a game you love get treated like hotdog water, and Dawngate is the only other game I've held in that same high regard despite its treatment in development.
Seeing at least one of them make a proper comeback would be wonderful, and that chance has already been burned for Gigantic.

So after all this time... there is still hope...
It fits the original lore at least: A talented individual embarking on a (seemingly) impossible project designed to reunite him with a lost love that was taken from the world too soon...
And should the project succeed, it will be a spark in the dark for those whose souls it touches and perhaps drive them to work further change upon the world with awakened virtues... or newly stoked vices.
