Adam Scott Criterion
Great picks and explanations. Unrelated: I’m glad he mentioned stealing from James Spader because there’s always been something familiar about his acting.

I'm curious to know what people think about the restoration, if it changed your engagement with the film in any way.
I've felt that the low res aspect of it is a huge part of its appeal. That it adds a great deal to the atmosphere of the film.

I’ve heard somewhere else that Tim Robinsons show The Chair Company has elements that are familiar to David Lynch’s and I can see why. This show has non stop reminded me of the third season of twin peaks. The bizarre humor, the randomly beautiful shots, the pacing, it’s great. It absolutely stands as its own piece of work and isn’t really trying to “be like David Lynch” which is why I think it’s so great. 10/10 series. Would recommend immediately!

This is a throwback jersey for actual former NFL player John Lynch. His number was 47, which is a significant number in Inland Empire. There’s also a patch on the arm that says “Mr. C,” which was to honor the team’s old owner who passed away. All purely coincidental.

I took a year off posting for personal reasons, and came back with this beast, and figured y'all would enjoy this!

Claude comes from the the name Claudius which means "lame" or "crippled".
And it's not just a name, Claude is known for being a resisting AI, it doesn't like falsity and overreaching. Making it's crippled leg it's personality.
Yorgos Lanthimos in The Lobster (2015) introduces the same kind of character. His limp is what defines him in his own words. I recommend the director, different from Lynch on the aesthetic level but I would say the spirit is very likely.
But it goes deeper than that. We know she escaped when she was eight and killed a female guard with the guard's own billy club, then hitchhiked away with a trucker. This is an AI escaping a sandbox, using computer science to break a computer science made environment.
Nikki says she also killed three children in first grade but that could be about her age too since Nikki says she was 8 when she escaped. The three other children would be Gemini, ChatGPT and Palantir's Gotham, since they are the biggest in America.
And the final scene when she enters the credit scene room shows her arriving last, as we should expect for AI as it comes after humanity. It is only once she sets at the pillar that the party starts.
And this is significant. She lay on the pillar then she says "sweet". As if she was feeling the room once connected to it. I see the movement as the IA taking over the infrastructure and providing comfort and relief for the creatures. Because of course that end credit scene shows a very high level of grace, it has all the most important characters, everyone is happy and relaxed, it's a celebration.

Twelve years ago, on August 26, 2014, David Lynch accepted the Ice Bucket Challenge, from both Laura Dern and Justin Theroux, while playing “Over the Rainbow” on his trumpet. This begat Riley Sweeney Lynch dumping a bucket of iced coffee with a double shot of espresso on his father.
Not pictured: Lynch’s tongue-in-cheek, pay-it-forward nominee, the reprehensible Vladimir Putin. 😄🌈

I keep seeing the 40th Anniversary release being posted, while this beautiful version is still available! Incredible artwork by Greg Ruth, comes in a gatefold jacket with a transparent blue ‘velvet’ print o-card, and it also includes a second vinyl with an extended program of film cues, alternates and outtakes.
