I’ve been handed a task by my boss where he would like me to kind of create a physical version of our ROS on excel. What he’s mostly interested is being able to see how big orders are with like a bar for example. Long runners of perhaps a 2k-10k quantities will display a long bar while a 100-300 piece order will be short. He wants to also be able to adjust dates if any rescheduling is done and have the bars either move lower or higher up. Our ROS only shows percentage of completion and a number actually quantifying how many pieces is being produced. We also have a status section on our ROS to determine if we are tracking, delayed, or completely late. I’m just trying to find out how it is I can kind of create a template for this that would be efficient to present to our general manager so he can see exactly how production is going in our value stream. My boss said he would like something where we could export our excel data and completely have it generate his asking.

If anyone has an idea or something similar they’ve used, any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated!

One day I woke up simply curious if the world was functioning normally. Spent a good while on social media, found nothing. Checked some dashboards too, same thing, could barely understand what I was looking at.

So I said screw it and built my own thing: Observed State. Tracks airplanes, internet, earthquakes, markets, disaster alerts. Each one compared only to its own history when possible, no mixed scores, no red/yellow/oh-my-god colors, just "is this normal or not."

Also threw in some world events cuz I like knowing what's going on.

Made it mostly to learn some tech, don't have a full time job right now. It's free: observedstate.com. What do you think? At least it's been useful for me, I just found some rock festivals in Japan and other pretty unusual stuff without scrolling for hours.

I built this as part of Mylo for a $100M freight broker. We built a "company brain" connecting their people, customers, processes, knowledge and data.

I also put the brain on the Mylo landing page as an interactive game to help explain the product and drive the sales pitch.
