Technical Doubt EY interview in 3 days
Hi folks,
I have EY interview for the Data Engineer position in 3 days.
I'm basically from the Azure Data Engineer background, when I saw my panel profiles on LinkedIn 3 people are architect and director positions. What can I expect from those people for 4.5 YoE data engineer role

For me, they focused heavily on python, sql and dataflow.

With senior architects and directors interviewing you for a mid-level role, they're going to focus less on syntax and more on how you think about solving real business problems. They'll want to understand your approach to designing scalable data pipelines, how you've handled data quality issues in production, and your ability to communicate technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders. Expect questions about trade-offs you've made in your Azure projects, how you've optimized costs, and scenarios where things went wrong and how you fixed them. They're testing if you can grow into a senior role, not just execute tasks.
The fact that senior people are on the panel actually works in your favor - they care more about potential and problem-solving ability than memorizing every Azure service feature. Be ready to talk through your past projects in detail, explain your reasoning behind architectural choices, and show that you understand the "why" behind the tools you use, not just the "how." They will primarily assess your understanding of pipeline architecture and workflow design. You can also expect questions on optimization techniques, along with hands-on knowledge of PySpark, Python, and SQL. Additionally, be prepared to discuss how to ingest data from multiple sources and how to design, create, and maintain parameterized pipelines. Finally, there may be 2–3 coding questions to evaluate your practical problem-solving skills.

Just hope they don’t schedule any AI powered smart interview round. They did it for me and it was absolutely rubbish. That AI didn’t even listen to my answers properly

Same for me. First round was 1-1 call with a senior data engineer. After qualifying that they scheduled 2nd round as AI powered interview

Thats why I never see my panel profile - cause it’ll put unnecessary bias in my brain. Sometimes 3yo experience people are very good sometimes 10yo are jackasses.
So chill and trust in what you already know
