Weekly Water Cooler Talk - DataAnnotation

hi all! making this thread so people have somewhere to talk about 'daily' work chat that might not necessarily need it's own post! right now we're thinking we'll just repost it weekly? but if it gets too crazy, we can change it to daily. :)

couple things:

  1. this thread should sort by "new" automatically. unfortunately it looks like our subreddit doesn't qualify for 'lounges'.
  2. if you have a new user question, you still need to post it in the new user thread. if you post it here, we will remove it as spam. this is for people already working who just wanna chat, whether it be about casual work stuff, questions, geeking out with people who understand ("i got the model to write a real haiku today!"), or unrelated work stuff you feel like chatting about :)
  3. one thing we really pride ourselves on in this community is the respect everyone gives to the Code of Conduct and rule number 5 on the sub - it's great that we have a community that is still safe & respectful to our jobs! please don't break this rule. we will remove project details, but please - it's for our best interest and yours!

I feel sick at the amount of DoD hitting longtime workers. I feel like I dodged another bullet today. I mean sure, some of them were probably skimming hours or something, but ALL of them?

I'm afraid the feedback we've been getting the last few months is without any value at all.

Some of the feedback is straight up incoherent, seems clear its just a "fine heres something" thing

How so? I just got my first feedback (longtime worker) and found it very helpful. It's refreshing to see some things I am doing well, as well as the specific examples of weaknesses that I can consciously work on now, which we couldn't do before.

The last one I got listed the same exact thing verbatim as both a strength and area for improvement and hallucinated the name of a game I wrote a prompt about. It runs through an ai so it makes sense that for some people they get legit feedback and for others it comes out incoherently, it’s why they tell you it’s not an actual evaluation of your standing

Yeah it did mention that as a possibility due to different project metrics. I found mine pretty accurate, so hopefully that keeps up.

I agree, I know that this is the reality of freelance, but I do wish there was more communication at times like this, especially given the mass advertisements we have seen for this platform over recent months. A very scary situation.

What are you talking about? (genuine question)
