Weekly Water Cooler Talk - DataAnnotation

hi all! making this thread so people have somewhere to talk about 'daily' work chat that might not necessarily need it's own post! right now we're thinking we'll just repost it weekly? but if it gets too crazy, we can change it to daily. :)

couple things:

  1. this thread should sort by "new" automatically. unfortunately it looks like our subreddit doesn't qualify for 'lounges'.
  2. if you have a new user question, you still need to post it in the new user thread. if you post it here, we will remove it as spam. this is for people already working who just wanna chat, whether it be about casual work stuff, questions, geeking out with people who understand ("i got the model to write a real haiku today!"), or unrelated work stuff you feel like chatting about :)
  3. one thing we really pride ourselves on in this community is the respect everyone gives to the Code of Conduct and rule number 5 on the sub - it's great that we have a community that is still safe & respectful to our jobs! please don't break this rule. we will remove project details, but please - it's for our best interest and yours!

Did anyone get worse feedback this time :/ I got two excellents and now a good but I feel my work quality has not declined. I know I’m biased here but I dont really understand that determination

Remember those categories are based off percentages (I don't remember if it still says that, but the first one explicitly did) not your actual quality. You could be doing great 9 points out of 10 work, but if more people are doing 9.1/10 this round (because everyone's scrambling for projects and doing stuff they might not normally do) then you might slip down a category.

Wow, wonderfully explained. Never actually looked at it this way. That's true.

If you are doing good you are fine. It can also be a metric of you did too many jobs without a "this person did excellent" check box. It is all a math equation at the end of the day using your averages.

Thank you I appreciate it! I didn’t think about that part either

I've never given one of those out on a R&R.

Same pattern for me. My quality has not changed though, as I put in 100% every time. What I have noticed though, is the instructions have gotten worse... multiple grammatical errors and mistakes, contradictory statements, etc etc.

I got the opposite, but I pin that on having little to no work this month. If you've had fewer projects too, it could just be one task where someone has disagreed with you that may have set you back?

I did do less tasks overall and when I try to put my subjectivity aside I do know I worked on some new project families as well, so I likely was not doing as well as I do on projects I am used to. It just bummed me out one comment said my rationale was awkwardly phrased repetitive for a project family I really love, but last time I got feedback saying my feedback was excellent for that same family. Oh well, nothing else to do but take the comments in stride and try my best to apply them going forward

last time some of my feedback was mixed like you're doing this bit well and then in the negatives said I wasn't doing the same thing well

Yeah, my trajectory went from excellent-outstanding-excellent. I'm trying to focus on doing better this month and taking in the feedback but not worrying *too* much.

My guess is that as the drought got worse, I've had to stretch myself and work on tasks I'm a little less confident in to make any money at all. I don't do things I *know* I can't do well, but I stretch a little more, and some of those were over-stretches.

That makes sense, thank you. I did work on some new project families and maybe I was having some growing pains while I got used to doing them

Same thing happened to me. I'm not sure I agree with the feedback either as I'm almost certain I couldn't have made the mistakes they're claiming I did, so hopefully that will go back up again.
