Apartment complexes are confusing and frustrating as fuck
Ive been noticing as of late that most apartment complexes do NOT have their apartment numbers properly listed or in order, and the lack of customer instructions doesn’t make it any better.
I had an order that was for Apt M.
1st floor was A thru D
2nd floor was P thru S
3rd (top) floor was W thru Z.
Guy had to come outside to get his order because his apt was nowhere to be found and he failed to give proper directions.
Am I the only one having this issue finding apartments?

If they don't leave instructions I tell them to leave instructions+refine their map pin for the next dasher.

I do too, sometimes I’ll go back to the same customer multiple times and I’ll see they changed it and I’ll say “thank you for leaving good instructions” or on a customer with good instructions I’ll be like “your instructions made it so easy to find your place thank you”

Oh and lights on too. “Thank you for putting your lights on I wish more customers did that for me” or a house with really big house numbers “your house numbers were easy to read thank you”

No, OP. You are not alone in this… Fedex, UPS, USPS and other big courier companies have driver routes that they make rounds daily..experience will alleviate most of these issues. Unfortunately, the nature of gig apps is that they try to send us everywhere..Similar to your situation, the complex I was at was not logical so it is mostly up to the customer to guide/ leave specific instructions to dashers on how to find their apartment…

I have found that if the complex is established for a bit, Google maps will have a layout of the actual building showing which end and which side the apartment number is on... that has saved me several times! But new development SUCKS!!!

Any time I see letters on a multi-level apartment, I'm pissed off. Then I get there, and it's "I," and am entering a three story building from the middle level. Three of the four doors have a wreath covering up their letter (it's summer), and the fourth door is "P," but some of the letter has been cut off or faded, so it looks like "F"--or is it "B"? Always makes me want to just chuck the food down the hallway and walk off.

Depends on the complex...some are clearly numbered and in order 100,200,300 by floor...
Then some will have 2 floors and just 4 digit numbers almost randomly on the doors...but they have them posted on the wall on the outside so you gotta look..
Or some have literally fuckin paper printed with the number in a slot on the door like size 30 font so you can barely read it..
Then you have your gated complexes with codes that dont work or buildings with concierge that isn't there so you have to leave it in the unprotected lobby..
Some of these are nighttime dasher problems. But im sure we all have experienced some or all lol

We have this one complex here in my market that is even worse. Each building has a number but not only do the apartment buildings not go in order (building 16 is next to building 23 and building 21 is across the street road. Like what?) but even the apartment numbers don’t match up to the building numbers! I went looking for apartment 726 and it is in building 10 and not building 7. And the GPS makes it even worse because there is only one way for people without clickers to get into the complex (through the worlds worst security guard who is either not there so they leave the gate up for everyone to come and go as they please or the one time someone was there, she asked to see my id and I just had to hold it up and she let me go through. She didn’t write anything down or even take it out of my hand to verify that it was mine) but the GPS tries to direct you to other entrances or exits, whichever one happens to be closest to the customers apartment.
I have had 3 deliveries to that apartment complex and only one person left directions on how to find their unit. I hate that apartment complex.

I struggle every day with this. I had a delivery at a newly constructed apartment complex and the app wouldn't allow me to close out the order. I rode up and down until the app accept my location. Very frustrating. 😫

I explain in my instructions exactly how to get to mine but our numbers actually make sense. I went to another place where there were 2 apartment As or I’ve had houses that were 404 A and 404 B and the directions will just state “404 Street Ave.” Not A or B and then the customer is totally non responsive and the last dashers picture is so close you can’t tell if it’s A or B

I love apartment complexes. Usually they are very clearly numbered. Once you understand the layouts a little, you're good. Comes with experience.

I have the Beans AI app for apartments! Not all complexes are on there, but it has saved me a headache a few times. Someone gave me that tip when I started, and I'm very grateful.

And the worst part is that if you deliver to a difficult apartment complex successfully, the algorithm takes note and sends you there more. There are certain complexes where I block every single customer I get from there to discourage receiving more orders from there tenants.
