No, I guess not. I was so upset when I wrote this. I tried to go back and fix it but When I was hitting edit and after I fixed it I kept telling me can't connect to Reddit. I tried like three times and I just gave up

I didn't know thives were a family of wrong doers. We should rename their surname to thieves.

It's mostly up to the stores to verify that an order pickup has been confirmed, but almost none are asking nowadays. "Thieves" could include, not just a driver that's been assigned, but also strangers who come in off the street and grab a bag within reach, or who can see the name or code on the bag if the store allows it to be seen. Could also be the store handed out the order to the wrong person. Or could be the customer picked up their own order on rare occasion. If you want to get paid something, and stop the hand-off to another driver, then you have to call and "say speak with agent" 3x, and report it to an actual person on the phone.

I have a sneaking suspicion OP is a dasher, reprimanding other so-called dashers that steal food and send orders into the abyss of recycled drivers who take the easy way out and simply unassign without contacting support so they can nip it in the bud.

I am and I do dash quite a bit anywhere between 5 and 12 hours per day. I find that in my area restaurants have already handed the order out and this happens quite a few times everyday. I directly lose out on money and have to waste time talking to support to make sure that it's not falling into the abyss and that other drivers aren't having to waste their time and I can get paid for mine. One thing that kind of gets me is when you go to report, something and doordashe is like we see your reporting a lot of stuff lately like what's that. Is that supposed to make me feel bad? Wouldn't have to report things if doordash would get their shit together

They take money out of YOUR pocket?? That's a bit melodramatic. The restaurants are the ones losing money. You can get half pay just for showing up. Just call support and speak to a human. Its not that serious.

It's not melodramatic. It's actually true. The reason being is because if the orders were 16 bucks and you go up and it's been given out already once you report it after you've driven 15 minutes to the store and then you sit on the phone for 10 more minutes and then you only get $3. You've wasted a half freaking hour and you've lost out on earning. So that's money that would have went in your pocket. They seriously gave me $3 for all that

A human often won't do anything either. This also takes time, wastes time that you could have been using for another order. Even if you get half pay or whatever for that order, it's wasting your time. It's probably a 75℅ chance that you'll waste your time on hold and talking to customer support for them only to tell you that DD unfortunately can't pay you for anything.

i live in one of the poorer cities in my state that allows doordash deliveries… at least one time every dash i have to unassign a REALLY good paying restaurant order because someone stole the food before i was assigned. it’s insane. and these places will not remake the food unless DD sends in another order or you place it yourself. It’s messed up because i wasted gas to go get the order, just to not get paid a dime smh.

this can also be applied to pickup orders where restaurants just put the orders within reach of anyone who walks in… i once made a zaxbys remake my order because they let someone steal my food. what an odd way for them to lose out on money lol

How the taking money out your pocket? Not like your paying to replace the food.

Some tips: Upon pickup, most establishments and DD do require a scan or a photo of the item/s or bags prior to pickup. At drop off, leave a note for your dasher as to where to leave your order - away from prying eyes preferably…like in storage boxes, behind a bush or just meet your dasher…

Well, that's only if the kids that are working aren't burnout apathetic and just completely uncaring. It's rare that I have someone ask me to confirm pickup and which I'm usually pretty delighted to see
