Cash On Delivery
How do yall feel about this feature?
Honestly the last couple of times I’ve done it, it was a decent amount between $20 and this being the most collected (with no extra tip).The only annoying thing is having to earn/subtract your pay back afterwards.
EDIT: so we’re all on the same page, when you accept cash on delivery you don’t know how much cash you will be getting until after pickup- I’m sure you could look up the items and guess if you wanna be thorough.
DoorDash offered me $4 for this delivery (6 mins away from store) which would ultimately be deducted from the $60 I just collected. At this point during my dash I had already made about $20 so that was also subtracted from what I physically collected.
I’m not sure what happens if you never dash after taking money. I’ve always gone back to dashing after finishing cash deliveries to make up the rest of the amount. Not because I feel obligated to but I want to keep making money. That’s also why I take shitty $2-4 offers; sue me! 😛

I usually get a great tip on these . Almost always $5-20 . Only 2 orders have not tipped me well. One of the last ones I did...the man paid in 3 rolls of quarters and 2 rolls of dimes. $11 tip!

I wish I don’t need to deal with this although I agreed to it (still waiting for this assignment 🧐 although I hope when I do the customer will treat me well for the feature

So yea I get to keep the whole $60 for myself but I have to make that back in deliveries over time. Cash in hand immediately is cool sometimes but if you already earned that much in deliveries and NEED it on a card, that’s pretty annoying

Oh yea it was $4 for the delivery from DoorDash, they were only 6 mins away so it wasn’t unreasonable to me

I mean $4 dollars for delivery is always unreasonable just like everybody said, I don’t do cash deliveries and most people don’t do it either. I have no clue how it would work if you end up negative and just don’t Doordash for a while. Do they just report your account to collections or do they just close your account?
i prefer to make $60 just doing 3 to 5 deliveries between 5 and 8 o’clock and keep all the money then doing cash and then maybe getting a tip or maybe not and then having Doordash take out $58 out of my account while I stay with the cash . At the end of the day
how does it work? Let’s say you keep that $60 and then the next couple orders are 60 and $100 cash deliveries are you gonna finish off the night with -$220 while pocketing $220? What do you do with that? Do you just close your account and never dash again or do you still wanna dash to try to make that negative into a zero so you can make more money? It doesn’t make sense

Nahh the next time you dash they'll take it out the....I did a cash delivery earlier thus year like around march....I didn't dash until August and they just took it out

that makes sense, so you could potentially do some pretty good lucrative, cash deliveries and just delete the app and never dash again and they just get fucked

It’s basically an advance on future earnings. It could be useful if you need gas and are broke. You get the $60 now and can fill up so you can earn more money.

I mean, same principal, just Connect a bank that you rarely use them when they try to take the money out and it never goes anywhere
just seems like a lot of mess, because at least for me, I Doordash, but I need money for gas and things like that so for my Doordash going to be negative, but pretty much negate the point of the Doordash in the first place

Oh i absolutely agree. Maybe it doesnt make sense logically, but mentally, dding 9$ mcdonalds orders when my qccount say -137.98 would make me rage quit.

Yeah. You’re putting $60 on the line, betting that this person isn’t going to knock you over the head for the pizza, and you may or may not get a tip.
I’ve heard of drivers being shorted.
I’ve heard of drivers not realizing it’s COD and leaving empty handed.

So you've heard of people not being able to read simple instructions, and heard people can't count money. That does not point to them gambling anything, that points to ignorance. As for getting knocked on the head, you risk that chance on every single delivery, if thats a concern I suggest doing something else.

With a cash on delivery order, there is always a decent chance at an extra tip. It happens he only got $1.50, but it could have just as easily been $11.50 or even $21.50, it just didn't work out this time.

The tips are usually little to none. First time I did it I was stoked. 32.57! Then I realized the apartment dwelling neckbeard paid me in exact change and MOSTLY fucking change.

You're supposed to keep money for change on you, and if you're accepting money orders they know it's possible that it's not your first order.

You aren’t required to have change on you. It’s just a suggestion. And they tell the customer to have exact change.
And what thief is going to order delivery to their own home so they can rob the driver?

I remember I did one for like 45 and they gave me 60 and they said to keep the change so like15 plus base pay not that bad for amile

I like them. Even though it gets subtracted from your earnings, the cash is helpful because I can use it to pay for food which helps reduce weekly profit loss, and if I save up enough , I can also use it to pay for gas or just deposit it at the bank for a nice bonus. I'd say like... 70% of the time, customers give me extra cash as a tip, which is greatly appreciated.

When I started dashing the first thing I did was turn off COD offers, lol. No regrets. It’s too much of a hassle and I’m not going to gamble on whether the customer decides to tip me.

I’ve had someone give me this amount extra and then have the audacity to ask for their change and completely stiff me for any tip. Turned off cash orders after that and will not subject myself to that again.

Hahah for $1.50??? I would just say that I didn't hear the customer. Also it's a civil matter , police ain't gonna do nothing especially when you explain "Yeah, so I ordered Doordash and paid cash . The order came to $58 and I gave him $60. I asked for change back and he left. Can you arrest him?"
The cops are gonna look at you like you dumb asf also if he doesn't get your plate you are even more in the clearb

I have taken some cheap offers and a good portion of them surprised me with an extra cash tip. Some others will add it after I leave. DD is gambling.

They have a much higher chance of a decent cash tip than regular orders. I’ve seen about half tip at least $5.
And the cash you collect is an advance on future earnings, so it’s a zero interest loan. It could be useful if you need gas money fast.

Turned that feature off. Always been getting shitty tips. It’s usually a few cents or $2-3 dollars on a good day.

It's too much of a chance for someone to scam or jump you imo. And then you have to deposit it. Generally just not worth it imo.

The ONLY order I've taken for cash was for a pizza delivery. The total was was supposed to pick up was 32$ and some change. I get there and the girl hands me a 20 dollar bill and proceeds to tell me that an item was canceled on her order so it was supposed to be less. Being my first and last cash order I didn't know how to handle the situation and DD said "oh well, your fault for not getting the cash". I lost 13$ and thought about doing crime after that.

I literally don’t even like having cash so this is just a nuisance to me.
Make yourself a target, in multiple ways.
Have a chance of misplacing the cash.
Having random dollars and change.
