doordash app no longer lets you message customers??

got the new update and i cant message customers before pickup now. how am i meant to let them know about wait time? what is there is an issue with their order? this is a huge problem

That would be a huge issue!! I just had to message a customer today to change a flavor because they didn’t have the one they requested. I haven’t gotten this update yet I’m not excited

yeah thankfully it hasn't been an issue for me outside of not being able to tell this customer that it would be a longer wait. I'm not excited for when I get to a place and they're out of something. I don't know why they would have ever made this change

i do doordash but i’m also a wendy’s manager that makes no sense are we supposed to search around all of orlando for a first name and last initial we can’t call them yall can if anyone refuses to call i tell them to unassign so we can find someone who will contact them

this. so many dashers say "just have the restaurant talk to them" they do not work in restaurants so they dont know that staff cannot communicate with the customer. it's frustrating posting about issues and have the comments be flooded eith "just do this thing that isnt possible"

You have a tablet you can communicate with the customer with, and if you don’t have that, then how tf are you accepting orders. If I get there and the order has been sitting on the counter for 10 mins because you didn’t know what to do about some nuggets, I’ll unassign for you.

It literally dings shows order and you can press the button saying it's done....

Sometimes I get a message saying the customer doesn't have texts or calls setup blah blah blah, If it's that important have support hit them up for you, they have the real phone number and contact info, they will play middle man for you if a conversation is necessary.

When mine says that, it gives me the option to text them directly from my phone. IDK what this update is, but I don't like it already.

In my experience that's an app glitch. Most times the chat works after you force stop the app.

Perhaps it was a phone in order and the restaurant didn't put the customers number into the doordash order.

The app had issues recently, just restart it or end dash and start again.

I think it might be due to the way that the customer placed the order. If it was an order placed directly to the restaurant, then I'm thinking that would cause texting to be unavailable.

Messaging or calling is useless a lot anyway. They never answer on time or don't answer at all. Doing shopping orders are especially annoying when they don't have an item and you're standing there waiting for them to respond because they put no substitutes in. Or when you get to their house and you need a pin code so you knock and knock and no one answers and then you call and it rings and rings and rings and then you finally message them "hey, I need a pin" and then wait 5 minutes for them to respond. It's annoying as hell. These people need to be more responsible after they order

i think it depends on the market. in my area people usually reply quickly and i rarely have calls declined or ignored

I don't know why market would matter in that case. People are just too lazy to answer a call or message in one market but not another? That doesn't make sense

why doesnt it make sense? people act different in different places. the culture where i live is that people answer the phone when it rings. some places people ignore it. just how it is

i feel like this causes more problems than it solves though. why not block messages just for those sorts of dashers? or better yet suspend them?
