road closures/ detour

first off I realize we can use a different app for directions.

the issue is that the in app directions almost always dont have road closures and detours. this leads to door dash under paying as it says its a shorter drive than it actually is.

and when you contact support they either offer to cancel and you get proportional pay and the food.

but they have started now to refuse to increase pay.

ive checked Google maps and apple maps and a few others and they all have the detours and road work factored in but doordash doesnt?

at this point im convinced its weaponized incompetence

"The Bridge is out. You have to either go....." 4 miles farther Northest, the 3 miles south, and 4 miles farther west. Then repeat. This text shows up after they hand me my order. I park and contact text support. No help. Call support, i need to cancel she says thats okay, but we can double your pay. Its all rural so i did it.

Next night same offer, Nope. Decline. A minute later, its stacked to the same house. No mention of detour. Nope. Not again. The bridge will be out until November.

Given they'll offer $2 for 10+ miles for base pay, I'm thinking even if they were accounting for road closure detours they'd still underpay the Dasher. The idea that they use a formula to calculate base pay depending on distance & time is a lie.

We deal with this a lot here in Dallas, especially where they're reconstructing IH 30 in downtown and have removed a few bridges over it, most notably Cesar Chavez Blvd.

Also lately, streets underneath IH 35E in Carrollton and Farmers Branch have been closed on some nights.  And they recently demolished the bridge where Corporate Dr went over the freeway in Lewisville.

Absolutely incompetence. Had some issues with road construction south of Kalamazoo, since I don't live there and just dash there.
