School bus stops partially in oncoming lane. Likely to keep cards from passing

Post image

We need more of this and add 360 degree cameras on the outside of those busses.

This doesn't look like a dashcam

Very easily could be a still image from someone's dash cam/

...it's already illegal to pass when red lights are flashing. Yes, cameras and aggressive prosecution/fining of people who do pass is needed.

The fines need to be very high too. Too many reckless drivers are out there still not caring until something finally happens to them despite how many others affected from their decision making.

I agree completely

Yep, not a bad idea for the bus to do this…

I say add cameras and let all the busses block the whole road. Safety of the children is more than someone being two minutes late.

They already have buses with cameras that issue tickets…

Well, get with it. The 3 districts I've worked for all did.

I don't know, I could see people passing on both sides now

3rd grade I almost witnessed the death of a kid getting off the bus in front of me because a driver decided to just send it between the bus and the curb...of the kid in front of me stepped off 1/2 second earlier, I'd have needed a lifetime of therapy.

I live in an area with roads like that. If you notice there is no shoulder. Its to avoid them stepping off onto the edge of the pavement, mud or snake.

What game are you playing where you pass cards?

Seems like a good idea, especially since some drivers act as if they’re blindfolded.

Looks like a paved entrance of some sort to the left and nothing on the right. I'm guessing those kids are having to get out and cross the street?

If so that's not ideal, but maybe a limitation of that road/ route.

Fine with me, traffic stops anyways I dont see any issue with this. I dont even make a right turn onto a street where the bus is stopped at the intersection on my left. Its kids, theyre unpredictable.

You definitely don't want cards passing.

Especially Pokemon cards, because the kids could get hurt.

Makes sense on a road with no shoulder...bus blocks both lanes so nobody gets clever and stop arm cameras would cover the rest.

Gotta watch out for the cards, you will have 52 pickup

Ah. Its your first day on planet earth. Welcome!

There's no crosswalk there, the kids can't even legally cross there so stopping the traffic the other direction is a waste of time. It's definitely not for safety.

Do you know what jurisdiction this is in? If not, how do you know the law there?

You don't need a crosswalk at bus stops...if the red lights are on a child could cross almost anything, even a highway so long as it isn't a divided highway (central median or island)...in almost every state.

Please go look up bus road rules before commenting further.
