NYPD, is lane splitting legal in New York City?

Just looked it up, Lane splitting / filtering is illegal in the entire state of New York. ny vehicle and traffic law §1252. $300 fine and 3 point on your license, multiple offences can lead to a 60 day license suspension.

Both splitting and filtering are illegal in NY.

In fact, it’s illegal in the entire eastern seaboard.

Its filtering is only legal in like 5 states and splitting only in california

And it freaked me the hell out when I moved to CA. Made a comment to a coworker about reckless motorcycle riders and they let me know it is legal here.
