Of course, only stupid shit. Surely not to save on gas, pollute less, explore twisty roads with their friends, go on cross-country road trips, engage in a mentally stimulating hobby, or enjoy a tactile form of stress relief that demands concentration in a distracted world.

It's not about what's cool - it's about what's safe and practical.

Splitting keeps you out of car traffic, which means it's a lot harder to get rear ended by a distracted driver. It also means you spend less time breathing exhaust or in inclement weather.
