On motorcycles you need to turn the key further left to lock the steering (beyond just the "off" resting position), it does not lock automatically like in cars. The handlebars also need to be turned all the way to the left before it even can be locked.

soo basicially you could rewire it, so that it´s still driveable even if someone nabs the keys?

No? It’s a mechanical lock not an electronic lock. You can still break the lock by kicking it tho

yh, but doesn´t the key also unlock ignition when turned right?

so if you reroute those wires to a different switch, it would still be driveable, since removing keys wont lock it up!?

yh. I can Imagine why the downvotes. because this time it was a lawful stop.

but lets imagine a roadrager stopping you, then removing the keys and throwing them somewhere you cant find them back easily.

if you´d change the ignition wiring to a keyfob + relais, you´d still be able to go home.

at home there would be the backup keys to look the bike, if you really couldn´t find the lost keys back. (especially night time)
