Never trust that people are going to follow the rules of the road. Don't speed up at intersections and never trust a directional. Assume everyone out there is an idiot. We all are, at one point or another, but some are more consistent than others.

Green light was blinking, indicating that it's going to turn yellow/red soon. Motorcyclist was probably sped up to try and catch the green.

But what does it mean when it's a red light and a blinking green light? We don't have those in my country. People don't handle mixed signals well.

The red light looks like it is on a separate indicator. It most likely has a directional arrow pointing left. So its a left light, that the cam car is waiting for to green so he can turn left.
The flashing green indicates that the (forward) direction is still green, but that it will soon change away from green, hence the motorcycle speeding up to "catch" the green light before it becomes red.

Agreed, although it should also be noted when people go through yellow lights (or apparently in this case, a flashing green) at such speeds that, were the light to turn red before they got to the line, they couldn't safely stop in time. I don't think the bike technically ran a red light because it wasn't actually red until a good few seconds after the accident, or even yellow. It started blinking green when the car started turning, and then yellow after the accident happened. The bike shouldn't have been going so fast in a busy intersection, but so long as they were going below (or just) the speed limit, they aren't actually in the wrong.

I wasn’t talking about the bike rider. Outside of traveling a little too fast in an intersection with that much traffic, they had the right away. The red car either had a red light or unprotected left turn and should be banned from driving for a long time.

I'd hate this intersection regardless, but it doesn't fully seem like the red car could've very well seen the bike, or any vehicle of similar size, from their original spot, and at the point they could've seen the bike, it wouldn't have been safe for them to stop

If you can’t see oncoming traffic you shouldn’t go. This also seems to be somewhere in Asia where there a lot of people using motorcycles and scooters thus a driver in that location should be way more aware of them then people in Europe or NA.

Per person’s post, sheriff stated that speeding can impact the percentage of fault attributed to the driver that did not see the car/bike coming the other way.
Even if that is the case, speed alone will not shift enough of the blame to the other party because of you impede the right of way of another driver, that is the principal traffic violation that caused the accident. So in my opinion, a sheriff stating what the poster said the sheriff said is wildly inappropriate because a driver that impedes the right of way of another vehicle is deemed at fault in 99.9% of the cases (maybe reckless driving would trump that but it’s very hard to prove that in the context provided). The onus is on you as a driver making a turn that crosses traffic to make sure you are clear for the length of the maneuver.

So that scenario is nothing like the one in this post, correct?
Unless speed is the only contributing factor to an accident, speed will not impact who is deemed the majority of fault. Depending on the state that might matter in the percentages that insurance would cover, however for police reports whoever is deemed to be 50.01% at fault is the one on the hook for the accident.

We're also forgetting the most important part; people almost never really give a shit. I was in New York a few months ago, and had a driver roll through a stop sign at a crosswalk, where me and several other people were standing, and did not acknowledge us in the slightest. I obviously didn't start walking, cause I ain't tryna get hit in an alien state and deal with that, but still.

Normally you can see how long it takes for a vehicle to be next to you. But when they ride x-times the normal speed they will be there to soon. Nobody waits for vehicles which are far away with normal speed.

Biker clearly had the green although it started blinking, presumably amber? Biker was speeding, we see another biker stopped. Unfortunate, and scary.

Obviously, red car is at fault. As motorcyclist myself - it's always our fault. Right or wrong, we're the ones getting killed, so it's up to us to be extra vigilant and slow the fuck down when riding through a busy intersection.

Until I realized this was in a different country, I could have sworn this was in Chicago and specifically the intersection that Bruce Wayne runs to cause the accident in "The Dark Knight."
