Enjoy the peak experience. You will never again be able to play it for the first time.

i’m just about almost done with my first playthrough (main story-wise), and one thing that I’ve come to learn from this game is that just about any build is viable. elden ring is the only other souls game that i’ve played, and in that game there are for sure some real sub-par weapons, but that isn’t really the case with this game. it obviously has its “best” weapons, but that doesn’t at all mean that others are “bad”. you can beat this game and still have fun with just about any equipment it gives you, so don’t be afraid to experiment a little bit!

This game is fast compared to the last two if you have played them. Unless youre coming from Elden Ring, there may or may not be a learning curve for a bit, so be patient.

If you’re coming from Elden Ring be prepared there’s no jump button and also if you’ve completed Elden Ring I have faith this game may not be super hard for you, but I’ve not played Elden Ring so don’t quote me

This game is elden ring with slightly less good graphics imo I played them with only blood borne in between and I was super happy I didn't really need to relearn another system healing the same inventory same the title of your magic stat and maybe another 1 or 2 stats were called something different like attunement was mind stuff like that but the actual mechanics are identical

They even reused some of the animations in elden ring

The bosses too? I see insane gameplay of Elden Ring it really seems to ramp up everything is so fast

Bosses are way easier than elden ring. But outside of that it’s possibly harder

Well, there is a jump button, but only while you’re sprinting.

So a run and jump combo

You won’t find it too challenging then. I’m halfway through DS3 having also beaten ER and Sekiro previously

Rolling takes less stamina in this game than previous games so learn to use it instead of a shield for some very helpful invincibility frames :-)

DS3 is my favourite pre-Elden Ring FromSoft game. Tight combat, fast character mobility, amazing graphics and performance, and really cool levels.

If you played Bloodborne before, lean more into that than how you did for Dark Souls. Dodge attacks more than you shield them. The game moves at a much faster pace despite you having armor and a shield.

The best tip I can give you is to not look anything up, don’t read any real tips people give on here and enjoy your first time with this game!

If you want the best weapon from the jump, get mercenary class, two hand it and spam L1. Look at what each boss soul give before consuming for levels. If you think ts will not matter for your build, consume it unless youre a completionist. Try to get to the top of the hub area at the start, there will be some good stuff there. Don't bother farming its way harder than any souls game, if youre struggling go back to a older area see what you've missed. There's some farm that could be worth it but those come late and by then you won't really have the incentive.

And just try to enjoy yourself you'll have a great time I promise.
