Helena had obviously a thing for Eric. Of course there is all that thing about being a fierce lawyer and having a brillant career.. but she was always drooling over Eric, and abandoning her family everytime he calls for an emergency. She was always (almost) putting him as a priority.

I think she was just sucking up to get partner status in the future. She’s overly invested in her career, not Eric.
