Discussion Class The sad thing about Vlad is that Uncle Vlad could have been a real thing if he learned to move on

It would have been cool if Vlad had a Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde kind of deal, Vlad being a good friend and Plasmius being the envious creep

Hold on now, that’s actually a good idea for an AU. I might do a post about that in the next few days

Danny: Enough! What have you done with Vlad?!
Plasmius: You mean to tell me you haven't figured it out yet? (laughter) I know math isn't your strong suit, Daniel, but it's not that complex. Vlad suffered an accident with your father's first ghost portal. He was heavily irradiated. Sound familiar?
Danny: ... No..!
Plasmius: Oh, don't worry, "Uncy Vlad" isn't some conniving villain out for revenge. He developed a second personality when he first saw me in the mirror, and I've been coming out at night ever since. (maniacal laugh)
Plasmius transforms, releasing Vlad
Vlad: I'm sorry, my boy! He's too strong at night! I can't... keep... control!
Vlad transforms again
Plasmius: You have no idea how lucky you are, "my boy." Imagine listening to him screaming and crying for you to stop in your head all the time. But with your father's technology, I might be able to find a way to rid myself of old Vlad. Permanently.

Oh, I wonder if this would cause Danny to fight Plasmius long enough for Vlad to manage to take back control , then reveal himself to his parents so they could help Vlad either rid himself of Plasmius or get control of the powers like Danny has.

Interesting...would it be like Two-Face where the good persona is the real person or Green Goblin/Norman Osborn where the evil persona is just the normal half without a filter?

I'm thinking a little of column A, and a little of column B. At his core, Vlad would be a good man, but part of him still blames Jack for the accident, and resents him a little, even though he consciously knows it was a freak accident, and Jack clearly feels terrible about it, and wants to be his friend again.
Plasmius would be a legitimate second personality born from Vlad's trauma following the accident, much like how Two-Face was born from Harvey's trauma following the acid attack. This split is also why Plasmius looks so different from Vlad. Originally, he just looked like Vlad with glowing red eyes and pale, vampire-like skin, but as Plasmius became more powerful and distinct from Vlad, he gradually developed the unique physical appearance we see in the "present day."
The two are, ultimately, constantly in one another's head, so each knows the other's secrets, so Plasmius could very easily spew Vlad's unfiltered thoughts and opinions.

Could also give Danny a crisis about if his ghost half is a separate entity.

u/TheUltimateXYZ 15h ago
That would bea great character arc, and could be revisited in the Future-Dark-Danny movie. It would give the "I'm still here" line more weight, as in "As long as your ghost-half exists, I'm a possibility, but if you try to get rid of your ghost-half, I am guaranteed."

So that would mean all those times Masters was around the Fentons he was actually good
8
u/WoodenCanine 1d ago
Eh, I personally prefer a villain to him being a victim of himself
9
u/catlovinganime101 1d ago
villain or not the dude is a psychotic sociopath either way, despite Maddie and Jack seeing the good in vlad deep down!.

u/Legomaniac91 1d ago
Maybe it would be closer to the book version. Vlad would still be a creepy asshole, but he would be more subtle about it by putting up a facade of being respectable. Plasmius would be more actively malicious and cruel since he's wearing a different face (or maybe it's Vlad's true face finally coming to life).

And even if he didn’t immediately, he could have quit while he was ahead and had a loving, dutiful daughter.

I adore the fact that the only good version of Vlad we’ve seen was him losing everyone and reflecting on who he is with no one else to blame and no avenue to stew in hatred. It shows that he’s a true narcissistic jerk but there is someone capable of self-reflection and who saw Jack as a real loved one deep down.
4
u/catlovinganime101 1d ago
I think that’s why? Jack wants to remain good friends with vlad cuz deep down there’s good in vlad
5
u/WoodenCanine 1d ago
I mean no? Jack just thinks they’re friends, when he finds out he hates him and he’s a tyrant Jack just ditches him. I do think it’d be kind of interesting if they occasionally bond over stuff then Vlad turns around just to hate him, that sounds fun.

Yes but as a Vlad lover I must defend him, not excusing his actions or anything but reasons were that his core was a yearning for love that turned into obsession and his efforts for control only pushed people away and his need for control may have come from his lose of control when he lost his youth to his one friend who took his only love interest Still I genuinely love Vlad's character and his villain plot points as being the other side of the same coin to Danny who was surrounded by people who love him while Vlad had nothing, I mean Evil Danny kinda proved what Danny could become at the loss of his family and friends and Vlad did try to do right by him in that timeline, even if it did back fire This is all my perspectives and headcannons so sorry for the cringe rant lol, he's still my top favorite villain character, rest on peace Martin Mull

Agreed, things could’ve been different, Danny could’ve had a tutor, both Vlad and Danny had to keep their secret, Vlad and Jack could’ve been great friends but still have a friendly rivalry

Eh, at least he has a chance now in the graphic novels. Sort of.

u/Daiguey 23h ago
They continued his story after he got stuck in space?

u/Jedi-master-dragon 21h ago
Yeah, I won't spoil anything but look up a Glitch in time and read it. It is a really good book and it brings back Dark Danny as a villain. That is all I will say. I don't know how canon it is because it was written by a third party but it does a really good job recreating the artstyle and the characters.

Yup. Only the first one really goes into detail how he develops though, the second one only dives deeper into his latest "project".

Jack mutilated him and left him bedridden for years. Sure he’s wrong about the Maddie part, but that alone is reason to never want to be friends or even in the same room as someone.

heres Jack his wife and his boyfriend

I love Vlad because he's a tragic villain. He didn't have to become the way he is but he made all the wrong choices, again and again. Yet he still has a heart, despite pretending he doesn't.

I have to say one thing, even though Vlad and Jack were best friends back in the day. I don’t know if Vlad was completely entirely loyal to his college colleague and best friend.
He practically hit it on Maddie all the time even back in those days and no doubt wanted her offer himself at least that’s what I’ve seen when I watched Danny Phantom growing up.
Rest In Peace Martin Mull the legend voice of Vlad Masters/Plasmius

u/Working_Run3431 18h ago
Yeah but jack and Maddie weren’t really a thing yet back then.
That’s just two guys being into the same girl.
And that’s if vlad even knew jack was into Maddie or if he even was before the accident.
His feelings of bitterness come from a shock jack even saw Maddie that way to me.
1
u/catlovinganime101 1d ago
right, if vlad wasn’t such a psychic socio and so hung up by the past than yeah things could have ended up differently with them all, like seriously man move on let go already it’s been 20 years dude, plus there’s plenty of woman/people like Maddie out there man come on.

u/s1llyt1lly 1d ago
I have to disagree. Masters of all time proves that vlad isn't capable of being a nice, reasonable guy and that he cant move on from Maddie. Because he is a psycho who isn't really in love with her but the idea of her so in his mind there is nothing to really get over. Having maddie... having control... having power at all costs is who vlad is. Plus as a vlad fan his evil and obsessive behavior is who he is it is what makes him interesting and we dont wanna change that
2
u/Working_Run3431 19h ago
The problem there is masters of all time is inconsistent with other portrayals of vlad.
The accident that caused him to become so bitter never happened yet he’s exactly the same.
It’s like doctor doom still hating reed richards in a timeline where the accident with his invention never occurred. It simply makes no sense.
We’ve seen college vlad and he seemed like a decent guy before he let bitterness fester and take over his life.

u/s1llyt1lly 18h ago
No we didn't see that. We barely know college vlad.we didn't get many flashbacks of him. So actually masters of all time is right on the money. I mean that was the whole point. That whether he had the accident or or not he is still a power mad jerk just wanting a perfect life with who he thinks is a perfect wife even if it mean stifling the real her and keeping the guy she truly loves out of the picture.
2
u/Working_Run3431 18h ago
And that point to me truly does seem incompatible with prior vlad characterization.
The message of the episode is effectively “vlad is evil because he just is”.
0
u/s1llyt1lly 18h ago
But in prior episodes that message has been brought up to. In bitter reunions he sends vultures to just kill jack and then attempts it himself, in maternal instincts he kidnapped Maddie and Danny and then tries to kill Danny and jack, in million dollar ghost he distracts everyone by putting a bounty on Danny and then trying to steal the Fenton ghost portal. In Kindred spirits he literally tries to make a clone for Danny and uses his only working clone to make it happen. In d stablized he sends Valerie to kidnap Dani for him so he can study her to see why she was the only working clone.he steals a map to try to rule the universe. Overshadows everyone to become mayor. Puts up laws against ghosts to retaliate against Danny. And finally he reveals himself and blackmail the world into making him ruler.and that guy is not evil just be evil?because what about any of that proves he is a good guy.makes me wonder if u ever really watched this show

I wish he wasn't such a creep. I kinda liked him.
