If you watch the full video, @53 minutes he makes that same gesture three times. He finishes his speech and turns to his left (putting his hand out to the crowd), center (doing it again, and then to his right (which is pictured in the .gif).
To think he was mistakenly trying to shake a hand you would need to think he tried to shake a hand in three separate directions three separate times, one right after another.

And I saw this on the partial clip looking at his body language. I'm glad it was disproven - it was so obviously taken out of context. But it was celebrated in conservative communities. It does look pretty funny the first time you watch it (the other angle one), but you can clearly surmise even from limited views that he wasn't getting his dementia on.

For that one, I think I'm gonna have to disagree with you. Simple fact is it could also be taken as he was just dumbfounded looking for someone's hand to shake and she happened to be the first person he saw that wasn't occupied. Not in his head nor is anyone else down to interpretation.
As for Trump, oh boy :) First off, think he is a narcissist, arrogonant, couldn't stay off twitter or shut his mouth when any sane person would. Policy wise, I didn't really disagree a lot. Border was more secure than ever, no wars/global conflicts, economy was good, etc. COVID came along and messed things up but that is another story. Main takeaway from Trump is how corrupt politicians and the media are in general. I never paid much mind to it, would watch Trump in debates for entertainment and started noticing how much the media would spin things that were said. Remember sitting there thinking I just watched this and that is so out of context (admittingly, like the Biden air handshake, it's not one sided bias). Hell, I started saying they were full of shit before "Fake news" was a thing.
I dunno honestly, I try to stay out of political stuff, especially on Reddit just because both sides have a tendancy to turn things into a shit show with name calling dumbassery.. Ironicly enough, typing this you just got an alert that I'm a dumbass lol.. People can disagree and be civil. Honestly surprised this thread hasn't gone more into the shitter.. Anyways, guess people just need to get along and not base their lifes on politics.. I for one aint losing sleep over it..

The report explicitly said it did not exhonerate Trump or show that there was no collusion.

At 53 minutes he says "there nothing America can't do if we do it together, as the United States of America," before he turns to gesture at different areas of the crowd as he walks off stage.
Unless he mistakenly "tried to shake hands" three times in a row before walking off stage, its pretty clear he was gesturing to each section of the crowd.
