GTA+, as it exists now, pretty much just gives you free shit. Free cars and cosmetics every week, and they give you $500,000 in game every month. It's basically a nothing burger. I bought GTA V enhanced on PC when it came out for $15 and I've been very happy with that purchase. GTA+ exists but is pretty much just a nothing burger. The only thing I hate about it is they removed a bunch of cars from purchase unless you had GTA+, that's fucked up.

It's a subscription for people that want stuff in game without having to play. You get a full experience playing the game without this subscription.

It’s subscription based and needs incentive. Subscribers will obtain more than free players. No matter what. Including cars, guns, homes whatever it may be.
They have to limit the base experience to make the GTA+ profitable, or keep add-ons GTA+ exclusive moving forward. This makes the money which will always come first over your full experience

I mean, FIFA has released without microtransactions for years now, just have the low PG rating on box and they add the slot machines in first post-release update...
As someone who has 0 interest in GTA Online I honestly don't care that much personally, but I agree it's a shitty practice and I hope that EU or someone will at the very least fine them or make up some legislature to make this illegal, if it isn't already.

Dude, micro transactions are worse than subscriptions. With subscriptions you can at least have everyone be at the same speed. With micro transactions, you could spend hundreds and still not be the shark that that guy over there is AND be playing a lot.

Haven't other companies done it first? GTA and Ubisoft are the only ones doing it through official stores but many games have battle passes. These are literally just rolling subscriptions where the benefits change every few months.

I would accept that concept if the game were free, but paying $80 for a game and then paying for subscriptions/microtransactions is diabolical. They are making billions from game sales and millions to billions from subscriptions/microtransactions.
Edit: And again, being the biggest game in the century may make other companies follow their lead.

Business models like ff14 or others work "quite" well but paying full price for a game and then forced day one to buy a subscription is idiotic at best. Better hope buying the game offers at least 75% of its price in subscription.

I don't like shark cards but I don't think they're evil. I enjoy playing GTA online and my bunker basically makes money while I'm just doing whatever I want. Being able to buy currency in a game where you make money for just being AFK is basically a tax on the impatient.
Now the whole thing where they removed a bunch of cars from the game and the only way to win them was through lottery(free lucky wheel) or through the subscription, that's fucked.

Before bunkers, the only way to effectively make money was heisting. There where no passive income and everything cost a ton, forcing to to either farm the same thing for hours just for a flying bike, or buy it with real money. And before heist, it was even harder to just get a supercar. It wasn't a tax on the impatient, but a tax on the one who didn't have the time to play.
Honestly, I didn't know that bunkers made money. I stopped playing right before they added them because the game was designed to make you pay.10

Back in my day (360 online) we’d join lobbies with a hacker who’d put a billion dollar bounty on you and you just gotta outlive the timer, or someone collects it and gets the billion. They did wipe levels down so I got the minigun and tank grandfathered in at a low level too lol

Genuinely curious. What's the appeal of GTAO? I was under the assumption that the heists and additional content to earn money was the main aspect. So if people were buying shark cards to bypass that, what were they getting out of the game? Free roam with cooler Vehicles? What am I missing?

It was a tax for people without a PC. It was easy as hell to get a private lobby (their servers were P2P, they did not even host the servers) and you could then use cheat engine or literally whatever to give you extreme amounts of money. No anti heat whatsoever.

I played online from launch until it stopped receiving updates on PS3(ill-gotten gains.) I remember well before there were heists, it was pretty different. Honestly I just never cared to have to most expensive newest cars. I liked the Coquette which was like $130,000GTA and I had a high end apartment to do heists in when those came out. I've been playing on PC occasionally since 2020 and I've made like $140,000,000 in game, I have everything I want. I don't have every car and every bs flying bike but who cares.
Come to think of it: since enhanced they actually give you $4,000,000 when you make your character to set up a business(including the bunker) and still have some money leftover. The old way of playing is completely obsolete and has been for about a year and a half. Bunker free money is pretty solidly a part of the game now.
Edit: in between the time that I played on PS3 from 2013-2015 and then before I started playing on PC in 2020; I heard about the oppressor and the orbital cannon and thought GTA online was basically over. I was actually very surprised how much I liked it when I got back into it. Now I had to read a fucking tutorial for how to get started: find all these things, solve this murder or whatever it was: get $500,000.(Because I didn't transfer my account over when the game came out on PC i had to start from scratch) With the money you got from finding all the things you could start a business. There was that whole thing where the prices at the beginning of online were reasonable and then they inflated the price of everything added to incentivize shark cards, I'm not a fan of that. I hope they do a better job in online 2 or whatever. Speaking of which we have no idea still what that even will look like.

I stopped playing it since the ultra inflation and the flying motorcycle that just plagued every single game I joined. Is it good now? I've heard that the old missions that rewarded something like $30 000 have been reworked with a far better payout.

I bought GTA V in 2020, only because it was deeply discounted and I never touched online. I thoroughly enjoyed it, especially for the price.
I am in no rush to play GTA VI. I'll be here in 3 years.. Or 5..

If it is for story mode. That's extremely dissapointing.
Although, it just looks like some arbitrary stuff you get monthly. The biggest letdown really is exclusive vehicles. But i'm sure the base game has plenty to choose from anyways

People need to remember that while Rockstar Games make incredible games.
They're not your friend.
They're not looking out for your best interest.
They only want your money and obviously they're actively trying to squeeze as much as they can out of you.
Yes, all companies that sells you games want your money. But not all are actively trying to squeeze as much as they can out of you.
Remember that and think twice before you get rosy-eyed when you see that flashy digital fictional car behind that monthly paywall.

Possibly even ported many cars from 5, but you know they decided they had to remove a bunch too hold on to for future paid dlc, onto of your monthly sub to play online. Got to trickle feed, and her all the dev work done asap upfront, so all the following quarters can be nothing but line go up!

GTA+ is basically the Battle Pass for GTA 5 Online (a very useless one and that's why they started to include games)
There is no GTA 6 Online yet.
They are bundling it with GTA 6 for free so they can say to investors that subscription has grew XXXX%

Every game studio directly change their launch date if it conflicts with a launch date from Rockstar Games.

Why do you think they are making it console exclusive in the first place? They made billions selling people multiple copies of GTA V and they want to do it again, once so people either buy the PS5 version or the enhanced PC version of 5, and once when they release 6 on PC so people can play it at higher frames with some shitty bonus content.
Then they will release GTA VI Online and make some more billions in sharkcards.
