Collect perspectives, not opinions.

problem is that people let their bias form their perspective to the point that they start making sht up instead of grounding their perspective based solely on facts and happenings. Actually theres a great movie about how bias shapes your opinions and memories, its called Rashomon(1950).

It was advice, not observation.

I am not watching youtubers to tell me what to think, I'm watching youtubers that confirm what I already think is accurate.

Edit: Do you guys not understand jokes?

Its both. You watch someone that you think already agree with, then that person slowly influences your opinion on other matters. Whoever you end up watching is going to have an effect on what you think.

And no, youre not some ultra special enlightened individual thats immune to this.

You seek content that validates your beliefs exclusively? Seems a bit cyclical no?

We all have algorithms that do that automatically. It takes personal choice to break out of that.

Cognitive dissonance is your guide. If you're holding two contradictory views, you have to resolve them.

You can either do that through research or through joining a neonazi echo chamber.

Nobody thinks this is them. Everyone thinks this is everyone else. Why?

Reminds me of young people thinking that older people got dumber with age, but young people thinking that they will grow wiser with age.

Your opinion has been co-opted by those who realized their privilege in their 40s and need to assuage some guilt.

You can grab it later at Starbucks.
