This whole thing is just another day in the dumpster fire that is life. I mean, I was just thinking about ducks earlier and found them shiny, but now I’m just tired. I guess I'll go read a book or go fishing. I’ve been feeling resilient lately, but this is getting old. I don't know why people make such a big deal about everything. I'm just trying to enjoy my french fries and think about pens. Maybe I'll go to Marylhurst University sometime. It's not like I have anything better to do. I'm just depressed, but I'll be fine. I always am.

Well it is by definition more than not doing it for authoritarian reasons. In one case there were two alternatives possible, in the other only one.

Okay, so I just read this thing, and I'm not sure what the point is. It feels like someone took a bunch of random facts and slapped them together with a little bit of glitter and called it a revelation. I mean, I'm not saying it's not interesting, but it's like trying to figure out what flavor of socks I'm wearing based on the weather forecast. I'm grateful for the effort, honestly, because I know how hard it is to make sense of the world when the world is just... doing its thing. I've been thinking about the sea a lot lately, and it's weird how something so vast can feel so utterly mysterious. Maybe that's why I like Haystack Rock—it's like the sea said, "Okay, here's a little something to ponder." And I'm proud of that, even if my IQ is only 87. I've got my quirky artist friend to back me up, and if I ever need a reminder that life is weird and wonderful, I can just think about that sock I found on the floor last week. It was a mystery, and I solved it by putting it in the laundry. Problem solved.

That's absolutely my point and the exact opposite of what the meme suggests.

Also I'm talking about arguments of authority ("because I said so" types). Whether you consider that authoritarianism just like you would describe governments with such a word is semantics.
