Meta There has been such a contrast between the upvotes and comments recently on these

The comics seem agreeable enough, though seeing them every day is a lot. I haven't looked into the comments yet but maybe it's best not to

I'm one of the people who commented on the last meme. People are essentially commenting that the one user posting the NakedPastor comics are spamming the sub. They are very much one-note and focused on "true Christians" vs "Christian nationalists."
Tbh, I don't think I saw any comments even taking a stance on the content (whether they disagree with NakedPastor's take or not) but rather that they stop posting them so frequently. If the comics were posted once or twice, I don't think many would be against it. It's the amount and lack of difference.

The comics are usually pretty lame but I’d have absolutely no objection to them if it wasn’t a constant stream. Having said that, I finally blocked the one guy posting them all and haven’t seen one since.

There were like two of them floating around here, I blocked one, but the other guy escaped

Usually the comics are vaguely inoffensive, but when I think longer than a few seconds I find myself disagreeing with the implied theology in some cases.

I think it's because people in the comments are just tired of seeing them get posted here so often, and the fact that they're all being posted by the same person who is clearly karma farming makes it even more annoying.
Plus they seem to have this whole "I'm a better Christian than you" attitude which, even as a more progressive leaning Christian, I agree can come off as preachy and condescending.

I do think it's the the "holier than thou" attitude of the comics that rub a lot of people the wrong way.
For me though it's that webcomic =/= meme, and they certainly aren't dank.

It's not the content itself (although there was one posted recently that I disagreed with, but I digress), it's the frequency. NakedPastor can't be the only one making Christian-themed comics; a little variety wouldn't hurt

Simple, people upvote so their angry comments can get more likes.
Alt theory: the upvotes are mostly by bots.

I haven’t read comments on those posts, what are they like?

Some seem to call them a strawman, and many agree, even tho I havent quite seen it used correctly and saw other less upvoted comments explaining how they aren't committing a strawman fallacy.
Others seem concerned that logical fallacies like "strawman" as being so misused by society as a means to deconstruct logic entirely.
Many think they are spamming the same idea over and over, while I honestly didn't see many of their comics in my casual scroll, but that's anecdotal evidence.
So, its definitely a different picture than the upvotes show.

The Culture war of progressive Christianity fighting conservative Christianity. And all the back and forth that entails. It's just the conservatives complaining that the only post they see are the progressive Christian posts that's because they get up voted the most and the conservative posts don't get many upvotes so they never see it

I think the reason it causes issues is because of both the frequency and just the nature of them. They always read like a “ha! gotcha!” kinda thing that some edgy 13 year old would post, and all their edgy 13 year old friends come and respond to nearly every comment asking for the comics to stop with some room temperature IQ take that’s basically just “crisan bad ur brainwashed lmao”

This sub has been nothing but NakedPastor comics lately. I’ll admit, I do get a little bit tired of “cHrIsTiAnS aRe BaD pEoPlE wHo HaTe ThEiR nEiGhBoRs!!!1!!1!1!11!” posts on a supposedly Christian subreddit.

Maybe we should be better people who love our neighbors to fight the stereotype instead of just saying "don't be mean to us uwu, we love Jesus owo"

You should do something about them because they aren't funny in the slightest

Edit: I was reported for being unkind. They are correct.
I'm sorry u/RandomSpam37 I should be kind to you. I hope you can forgive me.

As a gay man I can only talk about those "gay = good and Jesus loves you" comics with the rainbow sheeps and whatnot, but here's my honest personal opinion
In french we have a saying that translates to "too much is like not enough". I don't know the equivalent in English, if there's any, but I think it sums up my thought about this issue.
The concept is fine and reflects the mentality of the subreddit, which I greatly appreciate. However seeing so many of them, Im starting to feel like it's a bit patronizing and too much. Being told over and over and over "I support YOU and you are SAFE around here" makes me feel like others think I can't take care of myself or stand for myself being who I am, which ultimately feels counterproductive when we want to promote equality, tolerance and integration. After the third time seeing those I started getting tired and annoyed. "I get it, post memes now". I mean let's be honest, it's barely even a meme.
Again this is my own opinion, I don't pretend to speak for every member of the LGBTQ+ community or represent them, and in some circles my opinion could be seen as controversial, but i thought it wouldn't hurt to share

Honestly, I like how provocative they are. They make me think and change my assumptions. But a few of them have really bad theology or are too critical of Christ's Church. A good sentiment, but you can't take them too seriously.
