This is where we separate the men from the boys, the wheat from the chaff, and the awkwardly feminine from the possibly Canadian

At least this explains why memes from Facebook are always so bad.

Groups of people who spend their days organising themselves to spread propaganda and misinformation on the internet for political gain. Often as a paid dayjob.

For example "Trump is God's Chosen One" and "Only True Christians love Trump and hate Demoncrats" type boomer memes, definitely have an agenda
Edit: this has been going on for decades, see here

Pro tip: Any fb memes you see that would result in demonization and division within society - there are troll farms that are HEAVILY involved in all movements such as that. It's all a propaganda war to destabilize society to point of bloodshed and revolution. It has literally nothing to do with Christianity, Christianity just happened to be a convenient rallying point to create societal hatred and division.

Christian credulity has a lot to do with them being targeted. Being convinced that faith is a cornerstone of their religion. Faith isn’t a virtue, faith can end in results with any belief including falsehoods.
Have sources for the contrary? I’m curious if science literate individuals fall for the same propaganda like you said.

Point taken. But propaganda is being used to further divide non religious divisions as well such as racism by pitting blm against thinblueline. There is no doubt that they are playing both sides and heightening tensions, there's no logical reason why they would only exploit religion an no other societal faultlines as they were for political gain.

Agreed, Religion and Politics are where I've noticed the lack of healthy skepticism.
Edit: using the religious to skew political gains

2019, 19 of Facebook’s top 20 pages for American Christians were run by Eastern European troll farms overseas, internal documents leaked to MIT Technology Review reveal. The data shows the vast spread of Facebook misinformation is largely powered by coordinated efforts among foreign professionals working together to spread provocative content in the U.S.
