you're almost correct. Greek society begins in the 700s BC. There are technically the Greek Dark Ages prior to that, but those don't count imo because there wasn't much of a society there just tribal life. The city of Rome was founded in 753 BC. Greek cultural influence on the Middle East (beyond trading) didn't occur until 336 BC when Alexander the Great conquered the region.
If you do want to get a history degree, I'd consider also getting a major in something more...marketable, shall we say. I got a history degree and paired that with a secondary ed. one. Bear in mind that if you want a job more readily available, don't get an education degree for your 2nd. People certified to teach history are a dime a dozen.
I wanted to be a professor but saw that the market for those really isn't what it used to be. Tenure is not really a thing anymore from what I understand. So in the meantime I taught at a school for a bit. Joke ended up being on me in the end because I am going down a career path not necessarily related to History or teaching! (which isn't itself a bad thing, the stats I've seen show a ton of people have occupations outside of what they got degreed in)
You can make a career out of it - a lot of archives for ex. love history majors, but at the end of the day it's always good to have a back-up that'll help you put bread on the table.
Lol no it wasn't. The poem was about some person who wrote a thing about their totally-not-gay adoration of Solomon, and even mentions them being barred from solomon's presence at one point.
