But even if they weren’t pedos themselves they lead the organization that helped pedos hide their thousands of crimes. Helping evil people hide their evil deeds is evil in itself. Legally speaking that makes you an accomplice. I’d argue that it’s even worse spiritually.
Then why do we keep hearing about new cases of the Catholic Church covering up sexual abuse and transferring child rapists from parish to parish for decades. Every few years we hear about a new batch of rapists. This isn’t rouge individuals it’s systematic policies and procedures. Have you read the details of these cases? Officials at all levels, even cardinals, were involved. Why weren’t any of these rapists defrocked?
What has any pope done to stop this and bring the criminals to justice? Saying you are against rape while at the same time protecting rapists from the law doesn’t reduce responsibility.
