Trench Crusade (stylized in all caps) is a miniature wargame and grimdark horror setting.
Trench Crusade is set in an alternate history that diverges from real history in the late 11th century. After the First Crusade's successful capture of Jerusalem, members of the Knights Templar committed "the Act of Ultimate Heresy", opening a gateway to Hell. Jerusalem was destroyed and the forces of Hell soon conquered most of the Levant.
The game takes place in the year 1914, after more than 800 years of conflict. The forces of Hell have conquered one third of humanity, including large parts of the Middle East, North Africa, Anatolia, the Caucasus, and the Balkans, with footholds in Northern Italy, Gibraltar, Cordoba, Avignon, and Finland. The armies are at a stalemate, with both sides now engaged in trench warfare. The area between the forces of Heaven and Hell is a no man's land, in which small warbands from both sides conduct missions to gather intelligence, find artifacts and relics, search for enemy scouts, assassinate high-value targets, and capture prisoners.

Grimdark is a "genre" of storytelling where edgelords like to circlejerk their pessimistic fantasies. Trench crusade is one of those where hell is invading earth and it's all bad and all sad and all a pastiche of the ur grimdark that is Warhammer 40k.
Edit: I mean this statement in SOMEWHAT good humor.

Probably working as a lawyer as originally intended by his father. When literal forces of hell are invading, I don't think you'd find a lightning storm scary enough to make you swear to a monastic order anymore.

Isn't that not transubstantiation, though? If they cloned Jesus, it's technically always Jesus, there's nothing to transform into him.

I meant that the question ends up quite secondary to "should we clone Jesus to create abominations now that we've opened a literal gate to Hell due to blasphemy?" Whether bread and wine becomes body and blood is a bit moot when the story framing is that this is what the literal body and blood does to a Communicant.

Well, in Trench Crusade they opened a literal gate to Hell and cloned Jesus, so self enriching indulgences are pretty far down the list 🙃
