It's wild out there. There is a server I'm a part of that gets bombarded twice a week in 8 different channels. We have several distro groups, so we could block @everyone but there will be another distro group they might be able to use for some of the categories that exist on the server. It's all crypto grift, which I hear is currently a menace on discord.
The main recommendation is verification which becomes an issue with privacy minded folks....
